The Bears will have 20-22 million in cap space then dedicated at the QB position and still no franchise QB. You cannot make a single argument to retain Pace as GM.

Brady clearly settled the debate this year. Unless rules change and you get to hit the qb, the league is what it is. You need accuracy. And brains. Thats it. You can have all the athleticism in the world but you aint runnin from shit. You stay in pocket and throw between the numbers. Thats the game we currently have. Everything rides or dies with the qb play.

I do not follow the college game at all, but if Mac Jones is a sure-thing, do you honestly expect Pace to even interview him?

Now they are at the point where they have to draft a QB just to provide a glimmer of hope

If he passes on Jones or any quarterback available to him and they become a superstar he should be done in this league forever.

No excuse to have Pace leading your QB search. He was all in on Mitch and busted. He set the franchise back at least a decade by missing on every one of his first round picks except for Smith. Inexcusable to have him coming back in 2021. Complete joke of a franchise. GO COLTS!

The Bears are completely devoid of foundational players. There is no one to build around, and there is no evidence that an organizational plan or team-building philosophy exists. Pace might be able to stopgap his way to 7-9 victories, but they will be the most hopeless, pointless and utterly clueless wins in the history of the NFL.

I haven't watched college football since high school, so I don't even know wtf he is. There's no point in drafting a QB unless you LOVE him. Most of these guys are busts.

Jacksonville, NYJ are both extremely likely to take QB's (Jax is obviously a 100% lock).

Atlanta, Detroit, Carolina, Denver, SF, Minnesota, Patriots, WFT and Chicago are all candidates to also take a QB. It would seem likely that WFT, the Patriots and Denver may be likely too while the other teams mentioned will consider and balance their current QB's vs. near future.

Lawrence, Fields, Wilson, Lance and Jones are all likely 1st round picks, probably top 20 picks.

It's hard to see the Bears landing Jones if they stay at #20 and that could be considered settling, meaning they would need to move up to as high as #3 in the draft to get the 2nd or 3rd best prospect on their board.

Pace has a track record of picking guys in the first round that put up great combine numbers with limited experience/production at the collegiate level. Jones is not the type of player Pace covets.

No matter what QB they get, and hopefully in the 1st, he will be sitting at least 6-8 weeks while Dalton takes his lumps and makes his money. No reason to put a rookie out there and get his brains beat in early in the season. This is not a playoff team. My guess is a new rookie would not start any sooner than the week after the bye, whenever that is.

Does it really matter TBH. They don't have the support staff to develop anyone they pick. And this despite the offensive guru mindset of Nagy. Or remember Dr. Death long before him. Chicago is just not a place for QB's.

Hard to tell if it's true or just other GM's putting smoke out there to get Pace to cough up picks unnecessarily to move up a few slots.
