So I looked at the box score and see Alec Mills pitched. is that right? isn't he one of the starters? Ross must have managed this like it's still spring training. Hendricks only going 4 and then Mills to relieve in a 2 run game?

Heyward was either frozen, or overmatched every AB. When he's off, he is painfully late on fastballs.

i just saw Baez last AB. what's that asshole complaining about? those 2 were perfect strikes on the outside corner. maybe fucking swing at one of them next time.

Boog had a very national broadcast comment today.

He said, "We are coming to you from Chicago".

Umm, Boog, this is a local broadcast. We know what Wrigley Field looks like. We know you're doing this game in Chicago. You don't need to announce that. I just found that funny.

Positives: Taylor McGregor can still get it.

Negatives: I've lived here for 20 years as an adopted Cubs fan watching most games or at least having them on in the background. But I have no interest in going out of my way again to get Marquee, I played the game last year but no mas. Oh well.

the team is boring as hell and you add Marquee's dull broadcast and it's even more boring.

What i wanted to see from the team today - being a new season - is some fire. some passion. nope. they're still living off 2016. ho hum attitude. no passion or urgency.

The three man booth stinks unless the third guy is a Santo-type for atmosphere. They tried a four man booth during part of one spring training game and it was insanely bad.

I got off of a work call and turned on the game after the fourth batter. So at least I missed the Hayes HR. I came very close to putting on the Pirates TV feed after about the fifth inning, because I want to punch Dempster in the face every time he talks. (In part because Dempster gave me the defining highlight of the Sam Zell era when I walked off of a flight at Midway, walked up to the bar over by B15, and saw Dempster serve up a playoff meatball to Manny Ramirez who hit it to Tokyo for a grand slam.)

Don't sign any of these broken players. Bryant, Contrarez and Baez need to be traded. Keep Rizzo around to sign autographs to the 5,000 fans in the stadium.

i know it was only one game, but i watched a bunch of other teams the last 2 days, maybe like 7-10 teams. even the bad teams like the giants and mariners, at least they showed some fire and passion. this cubs team seems like status quo after that first game. no fire in the belly. it's like they are still thinking they're in the 'playoffs' last year vs the Marlins. really sick and tired of it and it's only been 1 game!

Lets really shoot for the moon and get 3 hits today boys!
