I don't know when this next ratings book comes out, or even what period of time that book entails, but I am going to guess it will be a complete disaster for WSCR. But then again, what the fuck do I know, I build condos.

If Jay Mariotti ever joined "The SCORE" as a host, Jerry Reinsdorf would be crying foul. If anyone remembers when Jay worked at ESPN Radio 1000 shortly after Tony Kornheiser signed off his Washington-based sports talk show, Reinsdorf was not pleased one bit that WMVP would sign a guy who has been at odds with the way Jerry runs both the Bulls & White Sox. Reinsdorf was so upset that I think he threatened to take the Bulls & Sox radio rights off of WMVP, which were included when ABC Radio bought the station in 1998 for $21 million to turn AM 1000 into the flagship of ESPN Radio. While having the Sox on "The SCORE" appears to be a good business deal for the station, team & parent company CBS Radio, I guarantee you if Mariotti ever became a "SCOREhead", Reinsdorf would threaten station management with taking his team's radio rights off if they ever hired Jay.

I always considered this to be a term that refers to fans, rather than the personalities of the station which is how you use it.

Why not ESPN hire him nationally and replace The Tirico Show? He'd be on the air every day and he's already got radio experience.

Vinny, you are correct. The big, burly "SCORE" voiceover mentions Dan Patrick, for instance, as a "SCORE guy now", but he never tells anyone that the show was taped earlier in the day...

Honestly, I would listen to Jay any day over that shit SCR's running from 10 - 2.

The real question is could you work your dump around his show

Which will teach his ass something about "flagship station" politics. Or did he think "Radio Jay" isn't "Newspaper Jay"? (e.g., two separate legal entities.) Well, maybe he can do crusty curmudgeon show with Skip Bayless.
