I hover around 10-15 lbs "overweight" going by those obesity scales.

I slipped into obese territory briefly in 2018 but then dropped 45lbs (gained back 15 in the 2 years since)

By today's standards, I am sure I am.

But it would be kind of disappointing to have the name Hawg Ass and weigh 160lbs.

By the BMI standards, I am.

But also by the BMI standards, I should weigh like 160lb. I would look very sickly if I got to that weight level. I should probably make a few changes to get under 200lbs.

BMI is such an antiquated measurement. I can’t believe it’s still used at physicals.

By the graph above I am listed as overweight. Not sure about that since I am pretty thick in the upper body and have little gut.

Absolutely meet all the indicators of obesity. In January, I went and consulted with a bariatric surgeon. That's part of my motivation to get fit. I do not want to be reliant on diabetic drugs and/or some surgery to get my weight down.

In January, when I was diagnosed with type 2, my labs were horrible, high cholesterol, blood sugar in the 450 range, A1C was in the mid teens. I thought I had been doing pretty well up to that point.

Had my labs retaken last week. All were well within the good/normal ranges. My a1c was down from 15 to 7, still high-ish, but trending in the right direction. Cholesterol was great, blood sugar has been averaging low 100s.

Down about 35lbs and still want to lose 70 more. That would place me squarely in the middle to high range of "overweight" in that bmi chart. Once I'm under 245, I will look pretty fit. I dropped under 200lbs for one day over the summer, when I was 25...there's no way I could maintain that. Id be ripped around 205-210. Anyplace on that overweight section of chart will look good on this old boy.

I graduated high school with a weight that is off the car chart on low end and had been as low as 125 on a 5’11 frame after a bout of a digestive problem. As an adult I dropped to 160 on my mid to late 30’s and while it would be nice to say in the 165-170 range I’m just not that dedicated. If lost a lot of dedication of late. I’d say in October I peaked around 200 and that was enough to get me to behave and am back down in the high end normal/low end over weight.

It always amused me when I was in the Army and they measured BMI simply by like waist, neck, and weight measurements. There was always a couple guys who were just fucking ripped who had to do PT with the fat guys because they went into the obese category

When I wrestled in high school, I was measured to have about 6% body fat during my senior year. Based on my height and weight, though, I was significantly overweight based on BMI.

You essentially need the body of a Kenyan runner not to be considered overweight or obese.

There are an incredible array of tasty protein powder and bar options. Keto, Paleo, gluten free, sugar free, whatever...

I just tried an Epic protein bar, chicken sriracha. 13g protein, 3g carbs, 0 sugar. Tastes exactly like a spicy slim jim.

according to that chart I am deep in the "overweight" category and would have to lose 30 pounds just to sneak into the top of the healthy category. Now I am no Adonis and I am not an Olympic runner, but I am tall and fairly trim, run ultra marathons and do not have an over-eating problem (i do drink my share of beer however). If I lost 30 pounds like that chart suggests my wife would think I had an eating disorder.

I'm firmly located in the obese category...whatever.

Even in my best shape where I ran a Marathon in 4 hr 10 min....I would have fallen into the middle of the Overweight category.

It's nice of them to let everyone know even in good shape, there's much improvement be be had

I'm the ideal weight for a man 6'9" tall, so, actually, I'm just waiting on a growth spurt. Guys do grow a foot after 50, right?
