Yeah but do you really want a guy whose name sounds like a White Claw flavor?

Maybe Carolina or the Rams as a backup. Nobody would have signed him to start.

He isn't good enough, Shannahan can make damn near anybody look good and he had a loaded team. Jimmy G is a good backup, thats it.

This, and I don't see Lynch letting Jimmy G go for a song.

That post trade, "Jimmy is our guy" stuff was incredibly transparent. They may cut him.

I understand he may be nothing more than a good backup but as I have said, every legitimate option at QB this year was a bad option.

Bears are in a very tough spot.

It's now a lock that the first picks are QB's, leaving 2 additional QB's on the board between 4-20 (where the Bears pick). If they want one of the two remaining QB's on the board, they may need to move up to #4, but that's only if Atlanta doesn't have they eyes set on a replacement for Matt Ryan. On top of that, Denver, Carolina, and New England are also candidates to draft a QB ahead of Chicago.

If the Bears don't draft a QB in Round 1, do they really think they can land a future starter (and not just a game manager) in Round 2 or 3? Based on history, a majority of the top 5 will be busts, much less what's available later. For every Brady or Dak, there are dozens of players with no upside or ability to compete.

Since free agency started, the Bears now have a major need at CB, and haven't upgraded at any position with the possible exception of QB, which is not a certainty and the upside, if there is any, is likely limited.

Going into the draft, they have glaring needs at CB, S, WR, OT (LT and RT), and more pass rushing. They still need a future QB.

Making matters worse, this team is probably good enough to win some games and prevent them from landing a top 2 or 3 spot in the draft and are probably more than likely a borderline playoff team in the 7-9 range. I tend to think the 7 win mark is more realistic than the 9 win mark, but, either way, this team is probably just good enough to avoid landing a top pick in the draft. Assuming the defense is no longer a top 5 or 10 defense, and is more in the middle of the pack, as it performed in the 2nd half of last season, the offense would need to jump up significantly this season. While they have some talent, it doesn't appear to be anything near a good/elite offense.

Assuming that Pace (and Nagy) need to improve and make the playoffs again, outside of injuries to other teams, it's hard to find a path that shows this team is better than it was before the season ended.

Go Bears.

His cap hit makes him pretty tough to cut.

I'd rather have kicked the tires on Darnold than signed Dalton.

Even if they didn’t sign Dalton I still wouldn’t want that trade.

I’d assume you have to give Darnold at least a couple years in that scenario. At least Dalton sucking is a hypothetical job killer for the bears’ brain trust.

Ignoring the likelihood that they’ve already been extended, of course...

Would anybody want Andy Dalton over Teddy B? Again this clown Pace couldn't be patient and get Teddy B for jack shit from Carolina.

What is the goal though? Does Teddy get them to 9-7 and a 1st round loss? How does that help? They were screwed no matter who they signed once Wilson was out of the picture.

My goal is to see Pace, Nagy and Phillips canned. Their goal is to save their job, If my job is on the line Id want Teddy over Andy. The team is pretty much guarenteed to win 7 games maybe 8 and these clowns are gone.

I would. They both suck.

Teddy Bridgewater sucks more. A lot more.

Never understood why anyone wanted Bridgewater to begin with. He was average at best with the Vikings and he was a game manager with the Saints for a few games as the backup. He sucks!

Yeaaaaaah, I dunno about that man. Bridgewater isn't great but he's not a loser. Dalton is a loser.

Not drafting Watson was CLEARLY the right call. His coin flip on (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky and Mahomes will always look bad.

Ya give Watson carte blanche of archer ave and wentworth and he's got 90 " massage" therapists to creep out..none would ever say a word. This whole thing ends with a 4 game suspension.

When you play in the NFL, I doubt getting fingers in your ass will be easily accepted. I also doubt that he's looking at 4 games for possibly being a serial sexual assaulter. I'm guessing at least a one year suspension. Goodell may use the word "indefinite".

Sure, it's possible.. But you have been wrong about him from day one. Atleast you stopped with the " he won't be shit without Hopkins"

I see a mock draft today has the Bears trading with Carolina and drafting Trey Lance. Sort of makes sense I guess but I don’t see Lance being the answer.

I wouldn't exactly call a bunch of garbage time stat padding "something", but you're free to do that if you want.

Bears moving up 20 or so spots would cost what? I've seen what Pace gave up to move up one spot.

I think Lance gone at 3 to SF,

Well in the proposed scenario the Bears are trading up to 8. They have Mac at 3 and Fields going to the Patriots (in a trade with Atl) at 4 fwiw. I suppose the 312 mock is just as reliable as “the experts” so I’m not disputing you. Just another point of view.
