Hamilton is odd man out when Engel comes back. Engel is your defensive sub and basically plays the role Hamilton is now with a little less mayhem on the basepaths, but it wouldn't matter as Engel would do more with his bat.

Then who would be the back-up catcher? That makes no sense. Hamilton or Vaughn if he's not getting at-bats anymore.
Mercedes is a catcher.

Despite all the talk about analytics in scouting, you still see how the negative (and positive) biases still attach to players and don't get shaken. Mercedes has been killing it at AAA for what seems like years. Yet the Sox couldn't find time for him to see what he had even at the end of non competitive seasons. They tried their best not to have him on the roster even this year.

A lot of other teams did the same.

probably every single one of them

specifically in regards to mercedes, I don't think he hit as well in the minors elsewhere as he did for the Sox. The guy's numbers screamed for a chance but the scouts still considered him a non prospect.

and I know, Keyser always said don't scout the numbers.

As I wrote above, it works the other way as well. Top prospects are given their shot until they prove they are bad.

Whatever. He's entering his prime and we have him. I imagine there's a slew of video-ologists going over him with a fine tooth comb looking for the fatal flaw. I hope it's not there.

Looking at the forecast, its going to be a real surprise if they get this game in tomorrow. Sunday is in jeopardy as well.

Maybe in emergencies, but he's not a major league catcher.

Try him for a game and he'll end up breaking a finger or something and be out for 5 weeks.

Poor Brick. I feel bad about the beating he took here.
Hopefully, he'll be OK. Eventually.

No, it wasn't. You tried to flip an accusation that didn't stick.

That's awesome. I'm surprised at the low effort. Usually, you're much more on point. This is a bit sad. Rest up. We can go at it over something else tomorrow.

Brick I assure you, if we need to have any words, there will be no ambiguity that you're talking to me.

You guys need to figure out what your narrative is. Either everyone (except hawaii) knew or the admins (specifically the Bishop) outed the mult. Which is it?
