No, not truthville. You're probably the biggest Sox troller of Cubs fans. Complaining about Cubs fans in your thread sounds... very silly.

Just as silly as Cubbie fans worrying about the Sox when their record is the same as ours.

I'm not worried about the Sox at all. I've got my money on their season over 90.5. So I'm hoping for a big winning streak.

But the chestiness you all had up until, well now, has been a source of amusement as I lose my bet.

You have me confused with someone whno worries before the middle of June.

Well it’s been 9 games, and they are a game back. +11 runs without Eloy, Anderson or Engel. So the season is over. Yes. Time to grave dance.

When you are down two guys at the same position it causes depth issues. He would also be the best outfielder on the Cubs.

That's not what you said when they were tanking for six years. Waves and waves of prospects. Enjoy Bote and Hoerner and Mills!

The parallels between 2016 and 2005 are pretty strong. You are already at the "We suck and it doesn't matter" stage.

5% of the way into the season and Cub fans are tripping over themselves in this thread to try to victory lap. I'm sure that's gonna age well

This

The Sox issues are ones that will correct themselves nicely over a 162 game season.

The Cubs issues are ones that will persist through 162.

They know. The Cubs aren't supposed to be good this year and that's actually a way to defend the Cubs.

I never expected Hendricks to have the year he had last year(0.something WHIP). I expected a slight upgrade on Colome. Plenty of time to recover. If not, there's other guys who can throw the ball.

Just catch the ball, throw it where it's supposed to go, don't get picked off, stay in the baseline, and everything will be alright. After all, we have Lance Lynn.
I don't completely disagree here, but the Sox could easily be 7-2. Its not just that they have lost games, its how they have lost them. Bad defense, bad base running, and bad pitching by everybody in the bullpen (except for Kopech). It has been a very frustrating start. Its one thing to play a good, crisp game and get beat. That happens all the time. Its another thing to constantly blow late leads and kick the ball around allowing for extra outs and runs to score.

Hawk always used to say that, generally speaking, teams are going to win 60 and lose 60, its what you do in those other 42 games that separates World Series teams from those who play golf in October. Its hard not to argue that the Sox are probably 0-3 or 0-4 in regards to those "other 42 games" as things stand right now.

We're on the same page. I agree we're 0-3 in games that are supposed to separate the wheat from the chaff. The question is the amount of concern there should be about it on April 12th. There's JORR at a 10 and Reader at a 0. One bite, everybody knows the rules, my concern is a 2.6.

If another game like this happens during the Cleveland series, I think its time to be very concerned. It would be nice for the Sox to send a message right now. Take 3 of 4 from Cleveland, at least. Put the early issues in the rearviewmirror, and win a series against a division rival at home because after this, its 7 straight on the road (4 @BOS, 3 @CLE) where cool weather is likely for at least some of those games.

I didn’t like the roster construction or how they spent their money before the season. Vaughn isn’t ready. Madigal and Moncada have sucked.

I'd be fine with 2-2 sans the major fuckups. You know, stuff like one bouncers to home plate from 20 feet away, popups hitting guys in the face, catchers picking dudes off at 2nd, staying in the baseline on sacrifice bunts, trying to take HRs away in spring training, leaving pitchers in for 7 runs, catcher's interference, pass balls, things of that nature.

No victory laps here. Just showing how stupid it is to be making any judgements after 9 games

It's frustrating to put the time in to watch a team playing like High School freshmen. And that's not an exaggeration. There's more to clean up here than the 2020 election.

Also, I know he's sucked and the Sox are banged up so they can't bench him, but stop hitting Moncada at cleanup. Move him down to 6th or 7th. He is an absolute rally killer at this point.

To the extent I care about these things beyond entertainment, I’m actually concerned with the bullpen. I thought there was depth that may not actually be there. I mistakenly thought of Crochet and Kopech as normal pen guys, but it doesn’t seem like they’ll be used that way.

Having Hendriks shit himself yesterday didn’t help. Marshall and Foster look like a dog’s breakfast. Add in injuries to the everyday guys and I’m straight-up not having a good time through these first 9 games.

He's my biggest concern. His body language adds to it. He gets really pouty. We need Billy Baseball back at short reminding people their job is playing with toys.
