I don't think this was that hard of a prediction to make. Guy was dealing in spring after finally having had time to properly rehab and had changed his mechanics to use more of his lower body, which should take stress off the arm. Thank Katz for that last one.

Katz tuned his hip swing. It wasn't the problem he wasn't using his lower half, it just wasn't in balance. Too much quad, not enough hip and produced too much crossfire. Bad for arm health.

Pretty impressive diagnosis. You got to be deep in the weeds to figure that shit out. I'll bet a dime to a donut Mark Pryor had the same exact problem. Two seemingly smooth and effortless deliveries. One small cog in all the cogs, defective. The question is, is it too little too late. Probably. I will still be holding my breath after 8+ starts. Repaired elbow, cleaned out shoulder. Still a violent motion even with all cogs working in sync.

This is better than when Dr. Ken predicted an earthquake or tsunami or Illinois actually being good at basketball and was kind of right.

I hung an F 12 sign on my house in recognition of him

He wasn't really devoted to his craft earlier in his career. He was much heavier before this year and never seemed to have much stamina. It seemed like it took him a long part of the regular season just to get up to game shape every year.

I was happy to hear in the post game interview that Rodon affirmatively wanted to return to the Sox this year. I thought it was a matter of both sides just having limited options. His wife's tweets gave me the impression he didn't like it here. It's possible the change in coaching also changed his view.

How often do guys stand in front of the press and proclaim they really had no other options?

Has Andy Dalton done his introductory press conference with the Chicago media yet?

He could have told the Sox go to pound sand after they non-tendered him. Of course you knew that, and just wanted to troll in the Sox forum like always.

The Cubs were reportedly pursuing Rodon but he turned them down

Cry more Frank.

It just shows the limited options he had if he came back after he was non-tendered.

3-0 to start the season

Garland was 8-0 in 2005

Tough to face the same team in back to back starts.

That shouldn't result in walks

I would give him a break on this one. Hope he bounces back next start. Rodon still won btw, which has been an issue for the team in the early going.

He only gave up 1 ER over 5 IP and probably is able to go into the 6th without the Mercedes E3 and catcher's interference that created a no out jam that he got out of.

Rodon of the past (and most pitchers for that matter) collapse if given a bases loaded nobody out situation where 2 of the 3 reached by no fault of their own. He just sat back and got the outs he needed in what was then a very close ballgame.

He kept them hitless the first time through the order.

If you had told me at the beginning of the year that most Rodon starts would result in him going 5-6 innings giving up 3 runs, I would have said I'll take 20 of those.

It'll be a miracle if he makes 20 starts. If he gets in 10, I'm happy.

I too keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, but something about him seems different this year. Even if the his wave is about to crash, ride it for as long as possible.

I'm glad Tony isn't worried about his pitch count. He's going to blow out when he blows out. No sense worrying about 10 pitches. But I don't know what's different. He's an ace when he feels good and has worked up a froth of pitching regularly
