Craig is just going to let Lindblom die out there today. That is cold. Get Fat Dan warming up already.

It was 7-0 before they started hitting bombs. Good to see they learned in that Mets series w/ the cold weather how to manufacture runs.

At least they made Peralta throw 23 pitches in the first inning. Ian Happ can go away too.

Huge mistake if you trade Happ for Verlander or package him and Schwarber along with Russell for DeGrom or Machado. Happ is Ben Zoborist. Russell is Barry Larkin. And Schwarber is Babe fucking Ruth.

Rizzo, the 32 year old " leader" who dumb ass cub fans want to keep and resign hitting a robust .213.

Happ worked some ab's but good christ man make some contact already. Rizzo is a very good hitter when he remains disciplined. When he gets greedy he abandons his approach and swings at shit and usually hits in to double plays or pops up. He hit a pitch a foot outside into a DP today. Just like your contract Rizz....take what they are giving you and stop trying to get more.

....and fuck ross for taking AA out at 4 2/3. He pitched very well and deserved to control his own game. Up 2-0 with runners at 1st and 3rd with 2 outs......ridiculous hook. Sending in Brothers to walk the entire god damn team worked out well didn't it boss ross.

No Boogs today in the booth but Pat Hughes and JD.

You can tell off the bat JD is much more comfortable w/ Pat there. He is much more energized whereas w/ Boogs he's walking on eggshells.

Hughes has been really good on the tv today. he's not mailing it in like he does on the radio.

but the last 2 innings he did go back forgetting to annouce the score.

Hughes and JD's banter has been great! Like Len and Stone last week for the WSox. Great to hear baseball stories and anecdotes and hear both of them talking about the game rather than some stupid bullshit Boogs brings up.

This would be a great tv duo for the cubs but I don't think Hughes could do this full time on TV.

But really great stuff today!

---

In - Game analysis :

Wind is blowing in 21 mph and fucking Baez swinging for the fences. Ya that ball he hit his first AB would have been way out any other day but you got to use your head to understand that's not going out today. These guys have to get hits - dont go back to trying to hit the ballpark out every ab with at 25 mph wind blowing in.

The ginger hair genius is making the radio call today. He gets a bit overly excited on certain plays, but he is a decent listen. Meatpants is filling in for ginger’s normal role.

I think I am the only person who does not care for Hughes at all. He sounds so dejected and mopey whenever the cubs get a bad result on a given play. There will be good plays, bad play, wins and losses. Stop sounding like someone took a dump in your cereal every time the Cubs don't get the job done in an at bat.

Pat is calling the game like he's on the radio (repeating the score and pitch count throughout the inning, describing things the viewer already sees on their television). That's expected but I just think it's funny.

Who is this Romine guy? He does not look like a baseball player at the plate.

I am really losing interest in this brand of baseball. Brewers have runners on 2nd and 3rd (thanks to a Baez error) with no out, and hitters are taking 2-0 fastballs right down the middle, only to eventually strike out.

Garcia should be benched for that lazy shit. But according to Deadspin, it’s racist to call that out on POC.

Jason Adam threw 27 pitches and didn’t get a single out.

I'm all for players going back on steroids. You can't play 162 games without any help. Let's players snort coke, do steroids, inject horse tranquilizers, etc..

I’ve been against radical change, but at this point I’d be in favor of moving the mound back 5 feet or having a called strike count as two strikes.

But he did manage to hit someone in the head.

I've been complaining about the NBA/NFL for years and now it looks like MLB is ruined as well.

At least I got to see the Cubs win the World Series before the game became HR derby.

My biggest complaint about this brand of baseball is supposedly legit ML hitters, like a Rizzo, continuing to hit into the shift rarely adjusting their approach. Even worse, the pitchers often throw stuff down and away, and I see guys still trying to pull the ball. They end up rolling over on it.
