He probably could've.

He also could've given up another 5 runs.

He has to be able to command his pitches and limit pitches.

Hasn't lasted 5 innings yet this season.

Sox starters have had the most innings pitched per game thus far so the pen is fine. Granted 2 CG SO's (leading the majors in that) help

All managers seem to have a quick hook this year.

managers have a quick hook because they are worried about durability of their pitchers after the 60 game season. They don't know how their arms will respond this year.
