Let's not forget that Caddyshack was an absolute horseshit film. Absolute garbage as a story. The ball was dropped--repeatedly. Even the book about Caddyshack was pointless. Probably the funniest movie of the 80s, but I never sit through the entire thing without fast-forwarding through the 60-80 minute mark.
All comedy movies from the 80s have aged poorly. Three men and a baby is the only exception.
It's still interesting to me that people think "Fast Times At Ridgemont High" is funny. The funniest scene is Sean Penn having a pizza delivered to his classroom.
I dunno....those scenes still make me laugh pretty hard, and the non-comic portions of the film are still pretty raw.
Revenge of the Nerds would never fly today, as several have discussed before. Maybe
Fast Times has just become iconic and therefore kind of meh to some.
Some of those John Cusack comedies, especially
The Sure Thing and
Better Off Dead, are still good, but even the silly ones are ok in small doses.
WZ will agree with me that one of the best movies of the 80s was
Prince of Darkness. Maybe it's bad, but I love it.
