that's a gaping hole in the batting order. happ and bote are at best, bench players and heyward's batting stroke doesn't exist anymore. i'm thinking he was a .275ish career hitter before signing for the cubs.

i'm afraid we'll be getting similar stats all season.

i remember when the cubs were terrible and len kasper creamed his pants telling us that starlin castro just moved into 7th place in NL doubles, after a castro double in the 7th, as the cubs were losing 7-2 to the reds.

cubs were confident enough in almora jr., schwarber and 1st round pick happ in the outfield and had no issues not resigning fowler and dealing soler and eloy.

i don't blame bote for what happened with russell. the guy is not a starter. circumstances put him in this position.

They let Fowler go at the perfect time.
