Not even giving Darnold a chance?

Pretty sure the trade was done with Darnold in mind. I’d be surprised if they went QB in the first few rounds.

Yup, don't see em getting a QB until round 3 at the earliest

He's had a chance. He's bad.

We're gonna draft a QB from the best basketball school we can find.

I just want to get out ahead of this and say that I pretty much cannot mock up a scenario where there aren't at least 2 or 3 good prospects available at need positions for the Bears at 20.

So, if I end up not liking this pick, just know that I reeeeeallllly don't like it.

The strengths of this draft align very well with the Bears needs.

If OT are popular, a great CB falls to us and vice versa. It OT, CB and WR are popular, a QB falls.

I haven't had a mock draft where an OT I liked wasn't available in Rd 2 and a WR even later than that. I really like Darby from ASU and Philyor from Indiana. They may be there in the sixth.

I agree.

They would have to try really hard to screw this up. I'd even be in favor of dropping to the end of the 1st if you can add another 3rd rounder to grab a QB with potentially.

The Bears have the ability to load up in R1-R3 if they could add another pick.

I'd like to see them get Avery Williams from BSU with one of those 200 picks but I think he will go a bit before that. He seems like a guy that suits what the Bears want to do in the return game and maybe run some plays on offense.

I hate when you guys start talking like that. I am pretty sure you guys were saying something like that in the 2nd round a few years back. There will be like 10-15 players at that pick who would be great selections for the Bears, it is a pick that we cannot screw up. And we pick Shaheen.

They'll trade up to 15 to draft Travis Ettienne

There is about zero chance this pick won't be a mistake. The guys in charge are playing for next year with Andy Dalton at quarterback. Means they draft for need instead of best available.
Other option is I can see a QB slipping, and they trade a bunch of assets to get him to claim he was their top choice. It buys them hope and time.

Or when the picked Gabe Carimi, and two All Pro DEs were taken with the two following picks.

At least with that pick Carimi was considered a first round talent. I dont think anyone had Shaheen as a second round guy.

Just being as honest as I can be about a franchise where the owner says other than the quarterback and not winning enough games everything else is on track. So inspiring.

And Carimi gave us a fantastic gif I can no longer find of him just getting fucking abused by Aldon Smith. And I think there was another one where he just sort of fell over uninfluenced.

That’s what gd and I were saying. Best available and need should correlate closely through the Bears first 2, probably 3, picks.

That's the one. Just on skates

I think there was another one, I want to say against Tampa Bay, where he just kind of falls forward like he was trying to block someone but nobody was in front of him.

I enjoyed his time with the beloved.

 That gif has the added bonus of J'Marcus Webb getting manhandled as well.

Poor Jason Campbell never stood a chance.

I hope Gabe owns that NFT.

I’ll say it. It is impossible for the Bears to screw up this draft. Can’t be done.

Pace is gonna trade up into the 3rd round so he can grab someone who's probably gonna go in the 6th.

I watched the Gabe Carimi draft with Spaulding at another board's get together. She hated the pick from the beginning.

Someone pull up the thread following the Shaheen pick. I do seem to remember a handful of players I loved in that spot.

I may have been wrong about Shaheen. He showed some flashes last year but his window may be closing.

Don't worry, Doc. He's still on pace to be the next Gronk. It's just the Gronk of 2023 rather than the Gronk of 2013.

With pick 52, the Bears select Rondale Moore.

I would prefer one of the OTs left, but I would take WR or CB as well.

It has to be an offensive pick. OT would be good too so at least JBills can pipe down.
