this was the downfall of the european clubs attempting to form a superleague. when fifa and uefa each threatened to ban players from these greedy rebel clubs from playing for their national teams, nationalistic passion shut this down within 48 hours. the various club supporters want to see their heroes/nations' best players - every 2 years in major tournaments representing their nation.

i will agree with you - european superleague or not, english fans can't stand the american owners, while roma fans weren't/aren't happy with pallotta-friedkin.

If they they sunk money in the club like Abramovich or Mansour they’d like them a lot better. They hate the American Sports owner mindset of the Glazers, Henrys, and Kroenkes that believe because of the size of their investments there should be no risk of relegation, not that I blame those owners. So what better way to protect their investments than create a league with no relegation, a Super League if you will. Now there's the added benefit there's less pressure to give out larger salaries because, sure it's not a good deal to lose too much, but compared to relegation, a bad stretch here and there isn't the end of the world. As an American Crystal Palace fan I may not be in tune with everybody in England, but I don't think anybody has any strong feeling about the team (or Fulham and Burnley) being owned by Americans. Neville really laid it out well. Good for European football fans for doing something about a real threat to their domestic leagues.

It sucks for people genuinely in that situation, but if I were to go by my local town facebook page, every woman here is a single mother with 2 kids who just left an abusive relationship and needs some help to get back on their feet. Also it's their only post on the site and there's nothing on their main profile.

If Julie is any gauge, social media has become predominantly just one version or another of virtue signaling. Whether it's begging for money so she could buy tampons for a food pantry, or complaining she got stung by a wasp because she was letting weeds grow in her back yard to attract pollinating bees, it's just sad.
