Not much left in Dalzell. That school has the most bizarre gymnasium. If it was about 10 feet wider and longer and 20 feet taller it would be really cool.

Illinois valley talk... Always riveting I know.

I played grade school basketball in Dalzell and we made fun of it.

And our gym was Ophir. [waiting for all to click away from thread..]

I always wanted to slide down the Cherry grade school fire escapes from the 3rd floor.

Yes, I was born in a recent century.

It’s mildly interesting. It has the best fried chicken in the nation and beyond and a rando excellent Cajun restaurant getting fresh seafood in the middle of cornfields.

Other than that, it is just the world’s breadbasket otherwise known as a flyover state.

I miss the fried chicken. And the plethora of dive bars.

BEST ILLINOIS VALLEY DIVE BARS!!!

GO....

I’d have to go with some place in Ladd. Lanuti’s.

Shoutout to Arlington. Can’t remember the name...Schoolyard or something...but could care less your age as long as you were breathing and had money....

A man could learn to play darts and pool in an area like that.

Lanuti’s is a solid joint. Been there a handful of times.

Not even sure I remember some of them from my yute. Some on St. Vincent’s Ave in LaSalle, 4th St in Peru. We would drive around and just stop in random places. Most of them had 8 ounce drafts, mostly Old Style, for 25 cents!

Vinnie’s on Peoria St. in Peru was a great dive bar we use to hit when we were 17 and we made it part or our normal rotation. Folks I met there are Still friends. Vinnie’s then Machelles Backstreet in LaSalle then 9th St. Pub in Peru for some had some live music. Then we’d head to some joint on First St. in LaSalle for after hours.

I used to work at The Pour House on Creve Couer St. in LaSalle. Earned my drinking money there. :)

There was a place in Utica that my old math teacher in high school tended bar at. Wouldn't serve us until we graduated high school. Can’t remember the name tho. Was a good place to throw darts.

Hank and Geno’s on the border of LaSalle and Peru, another solid dive bar. Sajnaj’s was where i learned the fine art of sports gambling.

I used to go to all those places. 9th St. used to have a solid ratio of good looking women / guys that looked like me.

I hope there is a plaque that Dr. Ken was here 1988-1991.

My plaque would be from 1983-1986 when I lived in the area. Of course, I’d visit during the summer when back from UofI. Then I lived in the area 1989-1991 but since all my friends were gone, I didn’t venture out as much but still made the rounds whenever the boys were back.

If ya had a lighter to light the black powder there is no need to use the powder to start a camp fire. These dipshits were clearly looking to ignite the powder for entertainment.

It’s great but it seemed like prego’s first inclination was to slap the little girl for not using the knife effectively.
