This all comes down to ownership of the land involved. If the Bears or McCaskey's are not the ones actually buying the Arlington Park property....I don't see it happening. The Bears have 13 more seasons to go on their lease at Soldier Field.....by the time a deal would close it would be more like 12 seasons left. It would likely take 3 years to actually develop the property into a stadium. Now the the lease is more like 9 seasons remaining. Not so terrible to negotiate an exit at that point.

One thing that is well known is the McCaskey's wealth is all tied up in the Bears franchise. They are NOT a cash-rich family, so I don't see how they'd have the cash to buy the Arlington Property. I'm sure they could partner up with someone that does have the cash, but that eats away at the benefit of moving the team to Arlington Heights.

This will be a very interesting story to watch unfold. There isn't going to be a better lot of property available to develop for the Bears than Arlington. I'm sure there are plenty that would cry about the Bears leaving the city limits. It makes zero difference to me. I certainly can understand why the Bears would prefer to deal with Arlington Heights over Chicago.

I'm hoping that they go so the city gets bought out of the abomination that is Soldier Field. It was crap in the seventies, eighties and worse now. I hope that they then tear the toilet bowl down.

You are not wrong...it was awful before the spaceship. With the spaceship, a few problems were solved, a few problems were retained, and they created a parking mess alongside an absolute eyesore. A colossal waste of money.

Almost makes too much sense, could build a massive domed multiuse stadium that could host everything from trade shows to Super Bowls, a preeminent Midwest venue. It would seem the state could fund through a tax on gaming, after all sports betting relies on having venues to host events and teams that draw interest.

There are two major problems, the perpetually inept McKaskey family and the drain circling disaster known as the State of Illinois.

I think the county should clear out a bunch of forest preserve for use as a stadium

Camp *etard is just off the east side of that map. As a current ticket holder I am hoping this long shot comes in. That is assuming I could afford the tickets in a new venue

I wouldn't consider this a long shot at all. Any owner (McCaskeys or other) would want to move the Bears to this site. It's a 326 acre property site. It's ideal. It's close to Chicago. I cannot think of another site in Chicago or the near suburbs that is this good.

The question really comes down to the currently property owner....
Is there more money to be made by selling the property to a developer(s) or to a Chicago Bears ownership group....that's the key to all of this.

PSL prices? I would imagine they would be record-setting

it really is. and nationwide everyone says the same thing. theres not even a lot to do around the stadium compared to other cities. even milwaukee has an amazing setup with the Bucks right down town.

It's like originally they thought the stadium location would create a whole theme park around it but eventually they ended up right on the edge of hell. im sure they would love to move just a few miles north. if this were vegas, they would pour a bunch of sand in the water between navy pier and the beach and create a theme park there.
