So, here's the weird thing. A couple days ago, a guy walked into the gas station I was in. He clearly had forgotten something and just planned to go in quick and throw a 20 on the counter for gas or something. Didn't wear a mask. Stereotyping jacked-up white guy with slicked-back hair didn't look like a mask guy anyway. But, I think he just thought he'd run in and nobody would be there anyway but also didn't care that he was wrong.

So, I was irritated. Not because he didn't have a mask. I didn't really care. I was irritated that I was wearing a mask. I was that stupid grade school kid / rule follower again.

Back in my machine shop days as the newer guy one of my jobs was to cut large sheets of bakelite to size on a table saw for the machinists to work on later on. That shit created so much dust and smelled so bad when it was cut there wasnt any way you could could it without not only a mask but a respirator type mask. That was fun to do on 95 degree days in a non air-conditioned shop. I chalk it up as a stepping stone on my way to being able to afford Honda motorcars however.

Wife spent about 20 minutes tearing through her purse to find her card last night after watching the news. I looked at her and said, "just walk in..." (in reference to wherever she's going...). If some Karen tackles you, be sure to film it and tik-tok it.

Here's a little tip wife Dr. Jill Biden taught me. Lighter fluid, forget it, throw it in the trash, whatcha really do, you get yourself a paper towel, olive oil, soak it up, throw it over the coals, light it up, none of that smell, now you gotcherself a fire. Gas grills? Won't touch 'em, man. I've been a charcoal man ever since I walked under a viaduct in Wilmington, that was the night I met a big group a guys called 'em Bad News Eddie and the Railroad Gang. Had a roarin' fire, didn't even have a Weber grill, nope, used an iron drum, filled it up with god knows what, man, alls I know, what they made there, they called 'em "ribs, Delaware-style," now most people don't think there is such a thing as Delaware barbecue, GODDAMN WRONG, and I love all the great men I've known from Kansas City, Texas, Elvis, they served our great nation, but Delaware ribs, there's a little somethin' special there, and the point is, what'd you say your name was? Far fan? Far from what? Point is every time I grill, I think of Bad News Eddie and the Railroad Gang, and I told them I was gonna make Delaware ribs famous, and I did, and the way to do that, look, those profane grills, you turn a knob, light a tank, that's, I mean, come on, that's an oven with a suntan.

kwik trip never enforced the masks the entire pandemic. their argument was nobody stayed in there more than 15 minutes. in fact, their whole setup is designed to be fast, orderly and clean. so they told their employees to not say anything if there was no maskers, and they didnt. no problems. ever. about 20% of people dont wear their masks in there, and nobody says anything. i feel like an idiot too, its just the one compromise i give these idiots. eventually they will find something else to worry about.

Can’t say I’ve seen somebody use morbid obesity as an argument for single payer.

Quote:
Almost immediately, a new talking point popped up — this one in the form of a question. “Sooo,” Katie S. Phang inquired, “how does one tell the difference between a fully vaccinated person and a not vaccinated person?” On Morning Joe, Dr. Michael Osterholm echoed Phang, suggesting that “The next question is going to be, ‘How will we know if someone has been vaccinated?’ If you’re sitting close to someone at a restaurant or . . . in a theater, how are you going to know that they’re not just kind of fibbing?”

The answer to this, of course, is that you can’t know, but, that if you’re vaccinated, it doesn’t matter whether you know, because unvaccinated people can’t hurt you. Or, at least, that’s the answer if one assumes that the fear is medical in nature. But, of course, it’s not. It’s social. What Phang, Osterholm, and their many fellow travelers are really asking is, “Without masks, how will I know who to disrespect?” Evidently, the final transmutation of the virus has been from epidemiological marker to political totem.
