I don't have cancer at the moment.

Will need to check again in November.

So....that's good....

I mean...not the checking again part...that gives it a feel of inevitability.

I imagine some people just don't have the need to check. I'd brag about that.

Somebody brag about "I don't have cancer and I never even thought about looking!"

Great news. I’m going to the doctor in two weeks for the first time in over 2 years. Hoping they don’t find anything in my blood but pretty sure they will schedule me for a colonoscopy while there.

Good luck, T.

Colonscopies are a dream...except for the pre-week diet.

The stuff they make you drink the day before didn't hit me the way they made the "bring a book to the bathroom" advice made it sound.

Plus, you get knocked out and it's over before you know it. That is always the freakiest experience.

"Hey, Dr. Ken, did you watch the Cubs last night? Yeah...it was great the way they....zzzzzzz.......----It's over now?"

I knew it was inevitable. I think I am a bit nervous due to family history and the abuse I have put my body through over the past 25 years. Better to know than not know

That's the bad thing about getting to our age, seems like it's just the beginning for all that crap to start. Good to hear you don't have cancer.

On Friday, I'm going in for a prostate MRI so they can end up doing a targeted biospy. All due to a PSA result that was higher than normal. Not expecting bad news but one never knows. I'm at a higher risk due to family history.

Good luck with your visit. Hope it's clean. I'm sure a colonoscopy is in my future, too. I haven't had one yet and I'm mid 50s so someone is going to ask if/when I had my last one. With an answer of never had one, pretty sure that's my invitation for one.

Yeah I am 45 and they just moved the recommended age to start getting them from 50 down to 45. My dad passed of prostate cancer that spread to other parts of his body. By the time they caught it, too late for a surgical option.

Dang, man, sorry to hear that about your dad. My condolences.

I had about three years where I didn't get a PSA test and it jumped about 33% in that time. Hopefully, it's nothing more than enlarged. EDIT: 43% increase. Dang...

Dr. Ken Jr. II - I’ve been talking about him here for 15 years.

He and his brother often had conversations on the board with me acting in what I thought was a manner far more cynical and mature than their years would have indicated.

He was named outstanding science student of his high school graduating class and a bunch of other stuff.

Am I allowed to do one of those weird Twitter videos where he announces he’s going to UofI after we hear about his journey?

Congratulations on your son's achievements! That's awesome.

And I'm glad you are cancer-free.

Sorry about his choice for college, though. That's...unfortunate.

We were hoping he chose a school that was excellent for engineering, expensive, and provided no scholarship money for in-state kids.

My old doctor used to get pissed with me because she'd always refer me for this and other tests and I'd always blow them off for awhile.

I'm hoping my new doctor will be a bit more understanding.

Thanks. I was glad to hear it as well.

It was not a guarantee. But, I’m excellent at predicting things and I predicted that I didn’t have to worry about it this time.

Only if he has a UofI, Kansas and Missouri hat on a table, he goes to pick up either the Mizzou or Kansas hat, then does a fake and licks up the UofI hat.

Congrats! What’s he studying? I got my chemistry degree from there. Prepped me well for the rest of my career that has spanned 32 years.

Glad to read that Dr. Ken!

I just had my 4th endoscopy and colonoscopy in March. Still finding polyps, so it's a 3 year thing for me at this point.

If you are over 40, you should be getting a yearly physical anyway. Don't wait! Get it done. It's gonna cost ya $1,000 but just do it.
