Interesting debate. Reminds me of the thoughts back in the day when smoking was universally banned from Illinois bars. What if the free market made the decision and each bar got to decide whether or not to allow smoking? I personally believe people should have a choice with some health issues in life. Nisei is giving potential patrons a choice and, unlike some of the other analogies in this thread, there are plenty of alternative options close by to make a different choice. Regardless, until vaccination status becomes a protected class, the unvaccinated could theoretically be joining the shoe and shirtless crowd left on the curbs of Wrigleyville. At least there is no shortage of compadre's there.

I don't think unvaccinated people are going to qualify as a protected class.

Even if they do, you're going to be in the ballpark of a compelling state interest for governmental actions, at least for a while.

Growing up on the streets of Chicago and business teaches you some of the same lessons.

You have more success if your word means something.

Meet people where they're comfortable. They will say yes more often.

Don't waste time having serious discussions with a man who has no principles.

Why should I waste my time trying to have a serious political dialogue with you? Your political arguments are as predictable as your positions are fluid. Seeing how sensitive you are when someone disagrees with your opinion doesn't exactly help either.

I agree that there's an argument to be made for allowing such discrimination by PRIVATE BUSINESSES. It would be rather odd for so-called liberals to be making such an argument though. And I don't think it's a good argument anyway. There are clearly privacy issues. Do you really want your hot dog vendor privy to your medical records? Because that's the paradigm this establishes.

And it will likely be far from temporary. Can you give me an example of a government supported policy or a law that hasn't expanded in ways that were clearly never contemplated by those endorsing the policies or writing the laws?

At the very least it's an unfortunate precedent we're allowing to be set in certain areas of the country.

If the answer is yes (it's not), you are certainly free to choose a different hot dog vendor. If the answer is no , you are certainly free to choose a different hotdog vendor.
