there's a media source named 'nextshark' that is devoted to and focuses on asian-americans. the past few months have been busy for them - as they sadly relate nasty stories of innocent, by-standing asian-americans getting lit up and/or punked. many of these incidents are documented on video.

I don't even know how true the first part is. I would guess there is some split in fan opinions in labor disputes. For those that side with ownership why is more difficult. The widespread reporting of player's salaries is certainly one reason. It's not the same with owner's profits. The relationship between the fans and the players has also completely changed. Remember when LeBron said that at the end of the day he's rich and famous, and the fan's have to return to their lives? Players are so rich and elevated from a young age now that there is certainly no sense they they are just like everyone else but with cool jobs.

Human behavior repeats over time. Confessing your unconscience bias now is like confessing your sins 1,000 years ago. It's like confessing your lack of devotion to the party 100 years ago. The current hierarchy of sin now is that racism is worse than everything. It's Satan. So there is a component of racism in everything including labor disputes, and it needs to be combatted and other values compromised to attack it.

Tim Anderson figuring things out has been genuinely amazing. I don't recall anyone having three years of pure mediocrity especially on defense then blossoming at age 26. There was also a long precedent of terrible first round picks by the Sox that clouded perception on Anderson. A late to baseball athlete who just had to figure things out. A decade of Ken Williams looking for the next Ken Williams.
