THIS.

Danny Mendick makes Leury expendable as an all around utility guy.

Bring up Engel and the outfield defense improves instantly.

Yeah. It's time to move on from Leury.

Leury theoretically has value as a switch hitter, even if he sucks from the left side.

With Eloy being back around the deadline and DH being his likely destination for his career, I say you trade Yermin at the deadline for a bullpen arm.

Do we really want Eloy back in the field, which is what has to happen if you want Yermin to play.

Yermin won't get you back anything worthwhile in a trade.

A small consequence to the outcome last night, but TLR should have subbed Goodwin out of CF after he batted in the 8th

This morning Mully was saying he hoped Mercedes wouldn't be in the All-Star HR Derby because it would mess up his swing, and I was thinking there's no way he would even be invited unless everyone else bailed.

Yermin won't get you back anything worthwhile in a trade.

He's under team control forever. Some team that wants to rebuild and has arms to part with would gladly take him thinking their hitting coach can fix him as he'd be around when they think they are done with their rebuild.

Even if Yermin rebounded, I still trade him as he only place you can plug him is DH and Eloy shouldn't be in the field. It comes down to the fact that a healthy Eloy gives you nowhere to play Yermin.

I don't think you can fix an inability to hit a plus major league fastball.

Same thing is going to happen to the Cubs with Wisdom and Alcantara once the league gets a book on them. There's a reason these guys have kicked around the minors for years.

The only difference is Cub fans know when we have pixie dust. The lunatics in the Subdivision really thought Yermin was a breakout superstar

Maybe not Wisdom quite as much, since the Cardinals have proven that they can't really develop guys at AAA.(See Arozerena, Randy). But yeah, I'd be stunned if Wisdom was more than a 300 PA/yr sub at LF/3B/1B - otherwise the Cubs wouldn't have taken a flier on Matt Duffy as well.

Just read a story about how Mercedes was given $165k by a private equity firm in exchange for 15% of his lifetime MLB earnings. Apparently this is happening more and more...Tatis Jr. has a similar arrangement where he agreed to pay 10% of his earnings for an upfront payment. I'm sure many of these don't work out for the firm, as most prospects will never see a big payday.

Wonder how many gold chains that 165k buys .

Sounds like those JG Wentworth commercials on late night cable - get an advance on your injury settlement!

In addition to driving drunk, TLR also drove a Mercedes into early retirement.

I guess he answered my question on how you retire.

I’m just going to Tweet it out to my people.

It's LaRussa's fault according to some fans.

Hopefully Yermin gets himself right emotionally because that whirlwind he had would be enough to fuck most people up.
