It would be nice to have a real stadium with a capacity fitting of the 3rd largest market in the country. Enough of that fucking park district owned dump with clumps of dead grass.

Put a dome on it as "Bear weather" is a myth and hosting Super Bowls and Final 4s would be nice.

A retractable roof would be great. If this is a precursor to the McCaskey's selling the team, that would be even more greater.

That would be pretty awesome.

The city of Chicago would be smart to find some land quickly and build their own dome. Maybe bulldoze good dolphins house to do it.

City of Chicago is tapped out financially.

Agreed. And tearing down our mistake by the lake would greater still.

Get it empty by 2027 when the Sox lease for Comiskey is coming to an end... Figure Jerry will be dead and buried by then and we'll have a new owner who may also want a new ballpark.

Is Gary, Indiana still an option?

That's how you know the McCaskeys weren't serious then.

I never cared for suburban stadiums. While this particular one would be convenient for me, you cut off a large portion of your fan base when you pick a geography in this case northwest. Our transportation systems are much better designed for a downtown location. Now, Arlington does have a Metra station, but that really only helps people along that line or in the downtown area.

Plus the highway congestion would be awful. Several of the 290/90 interchanges already struggle to handle the traffic, and 53/290 and those ramps on Euclid and 14 cannot take Bears traffic.

All that being said, the current stadium is a major pain in/out. And public trans does not help much as it is such a hike from most of the stations.

Still holding out hope for the return of the Decatur Staley’s. Maybe Howard Buffet can sink a few more dollars into post ADM downstate Illinois. Plenty of parking and probably a huge water supply.

MANY of the Bears season ticket holders are on the North Shore.

They wouldn't even need to get on an expressway from there to get home.

Which expressway that currently runs between Arlington Heights and the north shore is your favorite?

North shore concerns should be front & center.

Wonder how long it will take to put a stadium up?

East/West travel in Northern Cook and Lake Counties is a perpetual nightmare. Dundee and Lake Cook roads are terribly slow ways to get around. I am not even sure Rte 22 is four lanes in all places. Most people would probably take 294/94 down to 90 and shoot out to 53/290.

Crap, hopefully NW 'burbs residents tell the Bears to go fuck themselves.

Wasting that real estate on a stupid stadium would be criminal.

Permitting will be easy as they will ram that shit through. I think financing and design will be the bigger issues.

Most games are on Sundays. Football is also less of a traffic issue because people get to the stadium early and stay late depending on the time of the game.

What would you put there instead? It's replacing something that is already a sports stadium.

Mixed-use housing. The only correct answer.

Some enterprising businessman - or Pace - will set up a shuttle service off Lake or Willow. Busses will get right of way or special lanes on gameday.

Maybe not selling, but they don't have the cash to buy the property. Someone is coming into Bears ownership as a business partner.

Why do people care so much about the Bears stadium/revenue generating capacity? There is a fixed salary cap.

The Bears lease on Soldier Field is $6.3 million a year. The stadium probably takes 2-3 years to build anyways. If the stadium improves revenue by more than $6.3 million a year it seems to be a no brainer.

M/I homes is building million dollar townhouses in downtown Arlington Heights. Unless HUD is buying that prime real estate, you are not getting mixed use housing in a premier suburb on that property.

I'm kind of surprised by how little resistance this getting from Bear fans. I would have thought there'd be more of a push for a new and improved stadium in Chicago. You admit you screwed up with Soldier Field II and just bite the bullet and fix the problem. Arlington Hts. is about as generic as you can get. I feel like there is more than convenience at stake.

Banks will be lining up to finance a new stadium. There is no downside. Are the Bears going to go out of business?
