Stay safe. I'm in Orland/Tinley/Oak Forest area. Storms are moving in now. Lots of lightening and pouring rain now.

abc7 was all over that Woodridge tornado. Excellent graphics with that debris field radar that showed exactly where the tornado was at. 2 and 5 when I switched over felt like they were using crude napkin sketches in comparison

Shit, I still have family living near 71st and Dunham, north of the bankrupt mall with the White Castle in it.

SPC did issue a thunderstorm watch 2 hours prior, but that watch seemingly downplayed the risk of any EF2+ tornadoes as they listed the risk as "Very Low"

Since parts of Naperville got hit, how long until a certain someone makes this all about them?

This is a somewhat unique event as QLCS tornadoes hitting EF3 are a rarity. Those are usually short lived EF0/1

Strong QLCS tornadoes do happen, but not that frequently

From the snapmaps I posted above, it appears that it took at least one building's roof off, just west of the golf course.

I drove though Janes this morning and had to make a detour. On Janes, right before Jewel, there 2 or 3 huge trees down, blocking the road

Saw some helicopter footage on-line, it looks like the newer homes north of 83rd and west of Lemont (where the Christmas tree farm used to be) got hit pretty hard

Save it for your next user name as I’m sure you’ll lose your password again.

We finally got some rain last night after watching the storms skirt this area for the last few days. Kind of a load off my shoulders.

It was actually a scary sight to see on radar as when the pictures are that vivid you absolutely know there is damage being done across a heavily populated area.

Fortunately it seems like injury was minimal and thus far zero deaths. A nighttime tornado across a metro area like that is about the scariest thing that can happen with a thunderstorm.

On of my friend's sister lives out that way, and posted on FB that most of their roof was gone and water was just pouring in from everywhere. But they went to a neighbor's and were safe.

Same with WGN. When I got to the other house, TV (which is on a timer), was on and WGN was giving live coverage. They were zooming in on the Woodbridge tornado and the pixels, you'd have thought this were 1980 and you were playing Pong.

The radars they are using were designed in the 80s At some point this decade, the NEXRADs are supposed to be replaced with Phased Array Radars, which is basically a civilian version of the SPY-1 that they use on Aegis ships.
