DJ said he had the exact shoulder thing sub-something. Where it pops in and out by itself. He didn't think much of it short-term. But, long-term his shoulder was never the same.

This is why these 10 year contracts are almost always a terrible idea. If he has a chronic shoulder injury the first year in the contract what's he going to look like after a decade of wear and tear? His father peaked at 24 and lost all of his power by his late 20s.

Here's the problem with Madrigal. He has to hit for an incredibly high average in order to have any offensive value. He has negative power and he isn't going to walk much. I suppose he could bring intangibles to the table, but we haven't seen any evidence of that yet. All he does is run into bad outs and make bonehead plays in the field.

But even .329 is overvalued because he's a singles hitter who doesn't draw walks. And who's going to walk a singles hitter? He's fun at the plate, being Nicky Two Strikes and all, but....5 doubles in 600 PAs isn't going to cut it.

It's 3:05 on 6/24 and I'm at work listening to a random A's Rangers game on the radio.

The A's radio guys just spent like 30 seconds yukking it up at the concept of the James Shields for Tatis Jr. trade.
