Sitting here watching the lightning and the rain roll in... listening to Thunder. Scotch in my hand.
Pretty sweet.

Same here but only a local brew instead of scotch.

Driving from Bartlett back to the "bubble" provided quite a lightshow.

Daughter left the friggen garage door open after we got home from dinner. So even though one of my babies (which never gets wet) in the garage was under cover, the way the wind was whipping and the ferocity of it, the back end of the car was soaked. WAS NOT HAPPY with her.

Then my S-I-L calls (she lives a few blocks away from our other house in West Chicago), and says the tornado sirens are going off... So I high tailed it from Elgin down there. just as the second wave whipped up. I've not driven through rain that hard in recent memory. Thankfully it wasn't hitting there (obviously further south in Naperville), and we just had water in that basement.

No, but there IS a story (for another time). They do have keys IIRC, but I also wanted to check on some other things. Things they would be clueless to look for or even know what to do. I have spent a bit of time fixing the flashing around vents on the roof, soffits, gutters/downspouts (which is one thing I was working on on Sunday), as well as cracks in the foundation. So obviously checking to see if the house was still there was #1, but with that sheer volume of rain that came down, #2, I went up in the attic to check around where I had fixed as well as the basement.

Seriously. Both are clueless and lazy. She has to tell him to go out and shovel snow after it snows, so that it doesn't become dangerous to walk on... If it's a big snow, I will come back-drag the driveway and clear the end with my plow, but only because of her.

Don't like it to thunder or lightening but do not mind the rain as long as it does that.
