Also, these crashes are definitely going to ratchet up the excitement in what is typically a boring first week as contenders that were caught up in the crashes and lost time desperately try to get back to the top of the General Classification. Setting up to be a pretty exciting and unpredictable tour.

Is that card board available for every day road usage? I'd like to keep it in my car for when I need it.

People that don't follow cycling do not understand how grueling of a sport it is. Now add in crashes, road rash, and the broken bones. I understand it doesn't have the excitement of other sports but the mountain stages are pretty entertaining.

I heard yesterday that Marc Soler, a rider caught up in the early crash Saturday, rode it in 45 km with 2 broken elbows. He wasn't the only one who got back up and gutted their way in. These guys work their whole lives to get to this race, and they will go to amazing lengths to continue racing. it is amazing what their pain tolerances are and to what extremes they will go to finish a stage.

funny thing is I dont even seriously ride, just the occasional recreational ride out on the bike path. I do love the sport of cycling though, I really admire the stamina and guts it takes to ride these 3-week grand tours.
