I don't think I've ever seen a customer helping another customer put their groceries on the belt. Leave them alone. What's the problem here?

How would Julie react if some random white man, especially someone who appeared to be on the autism spectrum (the last socially sanctioned prejudice for PMC white women), decided to start rooting through her shopping cart and "graciously" putting her items on the conveyor belt for her? Why does Julie think this woman needs a big strong man to put groceries on the conveyor belt? Maybe their deal is that she unloads the cart and he unloads the bags at home. Who knows? Who cares?

As for JDC, the “hire or stop looking for brownie points” comment is the exact opposite of the NFL’s Rooney rule. It puts the spotlight and gives interview experience to blacks. Once their names start getting floated, the, idea is they get more chances at future openings.

So this interview and hire or do not interview at all philosophy is just idiotic.

Who knows what she thinks. She's a dope. But if her point is that you have women who have followed a path that typically leads to a head coaching position and they are constantly interviewed without ever getting that promotion, she may have a point.

It's demeaning and sexist for JDC to say that Portland was looking for brownie points. Why can't it be true that they actually considered her?

So there should be more black coaches because there are a lot of black players, but there should also be women coaches when there are no women players?

It's better to be interviewed than not. Some coaches have gotten future jobs because a sham interview put them on the radar.

The Stan Van Gundy's of the coaching world getting 20 opportunities to be a head coach is more of a problem.

But I think you can have a pretty good discussion about who is more qualified to be a head coach in the NBA, Billups or Hammon.

Both had pretty good careers in their respective leagues.

Billups has been an assistant for 1 season.

Hammons for 7 seasons with the Spurs.

Now I get there are other intangibles that cannot be really measured that go into being a coach. But I do not think it is cut and dry that Billups is a better choice.
