I don’t believe that’s the sum of it. Chris Ballard and Ryan Pace have similar results over the same tenure, but I don’t know anybody who’d prefer Pace over Ballard. And if Fields works out like most hope, it may be the case that Pace falls ass backwards into a long run of success.
You just did it. That's the reason that Ryan Pace is still working for the Bears. See, it isn't that hard. It certainly can be done by someone who owns the team and has access to people and information that we don't. Though, I would guess that any team President would get much more than 4 years to determine their worth unless they prove to be really horrible at it.

At a basic level, I agree with this, but it's not like it's all that hard to figure out who has a good chance of knowing what they are doing in the world of football. You may end up being wrong but it's not like you have to get on LinkedIn and start searching for people. Football executives are mostly people who worked their way up the ladder with other organizations or in rare circumstances are former players who have functioning brains.

If it’s that easy, it may be an even greater indictment of the McCaskeys football incompetence.

You were able to assess the current state of the Bears as a casual observer, which you feel the literal owners of the Bears could not.

It isn't easy to be a great owner and they aren't great owners. Sadly, the only great owner in my lifetime is Jerry.

The intent was to highlight a flaw in the Brickian results based model, but I’ve clearly failed.

It's just a nonsensical argument by you. If there is a solid analysis that can be done by an average fan who only watches on Sunday and can read some basic results then the owner of the team who can talk to anyone in the organization they want whenever they want can do the same.

Why don't you think they have? They saw what happened to a few other football families and have almost certainly made it so they wouldn't have to sell the day she dies if they don't want to.

They may choose to sell but they won't be forced to.

TEIA makes good points, and so do you.

The real question is: if the McCs can interpret the analysis, but are satisfied in doing nothing to change any negative course (until the fan base has the pitchforks out), does that make the ownership incompetent? (see: Bears history since 1986)

The other real question is: If the ownership is making money hand-over-fist regardless of the team’s performance, does that make the ownership incompetent? (see: The Great Jerry)

The argument is that the McCaskeys have proven they’re not a good judge of football executives.

Your counter is they should just go ask Ted Phillips if he’s doing a good job.

Bears are like many family owned businesses, the founder had the vision and took all the risk to launch the business, but the subsequent generations lack the skills necessary to grow the company. It becomes a kind of monarchy with high level positions that are filled by birthright, not by the best and brightest. Non-family members that disagree with the family are quickly eliminated even thought they are totally correct in their evaluations. The business is then only filled with family members and yes men/women, you see this in spades with the Bears.

Have often read that the Bears leave tons of money on the table due to the poor stadium deal and the lack of vision when it comes to leveraging the brand. Its highly likely that potential owners are salivating at the possibilities to rapidly change the reputation of the team.

There is no reason the Bears should not be a worldwide brand, the NFL likely wants a new stadium and more competent ownership group.

Bezos will buy the team, the penthouse at that high-rise apartment building in Grant Park South, and the City will spend YOUR TAXPAYER DOLLARS on installing the Red Eye of Sauron above Villa Bezos.
