I never liked a power hitter hitting in leadoff, too many solo shots.

A Ricky Henderson 1980 Topps rookie card graded PSA 10 is worth $175,000.

Funny how he already has 52 RBI, mostly at leadoff...when KB would finish the year with 60-70 RBI for the year batting 2nd, it was blamed on the batters ahead of him.

First pitch of the game, another HR. Crazy stretch for him

Loved Ricky, I wouldn't really consider him a home run hitter though.

sad day today.

Schwarber didnt even last a whole season in Washington.

Already traded to the Red Sox for a minor league pitcher.

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/319 ... ource-says

Sad that this is a guy in the prime of his career and he cant get a long term deal, instead he is a trade piece jumping from team to team.

Schwarbino has been back for a couple weeks now.

Strangely, he doesnt have a single HR or RBI.

Yet he is hitting GREAT. Hit safely in 7 of 9 games, and has raised his avergae to .260, and his OBP and OPS.

The conventional thinking is that you first focus on hitting good and spraying the ball around, then the pitchers will come to you and the homers will come.

He is learning a new league but doing good. His OPS for the year is fucking .920!

So sad we got rid of him like garbage.

Unless the dude gets a career ending injury I don't see a way that he does not get to 200. He is only 28 years old. A left handed power bat is always going to have a place in the game. He will easily surpass 200 HRs

and as if right on queue, he hits a game-tying HR in the 9th tonight. I am the Steve Stone of these boards.

Interesting to see Bryant talking about how nice it was to be on a team where they focused on winning and not individual stats. Cubs basically had a lineup full of me first guys, sure they may hit a HR once a week to help you win a game, but the other six days they will come up repeatedly with a guy at third with less than two outs and fail to make contact. You get those years where the guy has 30 HRs and 40 RBI's, home run or nothing which kills you because you lost all those close games where you really needed a guy to make contact. There are also the frequent misadventures on defense, you can maybe carry one guy like that, but a team full of them makes it difficult. They also need a grab ass "players" manager like Madden to stroke their egos.

Gonna be interesting to see Boras want whatever monster deal for Bryant when he’s being outperformed by Schwarber.

that's gotta be a shot at Baez. No one else on those Cubs teams struck me as incredibly me-first.

Don't forget the hard playing Wilson Contrearas. His throws to first are pretty much a vanity project, as the cost-benefit analysis dictates not to do it.

He and Baez pat themselves on the back for hustle (debatable) while doing nothing during the off season to correct their many flaws.
