Non-violent protest during the ceremony at a track and field event is now tantamount to “hating everything” the US stands for? Uh sure thing bud.

I mean at the very least she likes freedom of expression, which is kinda a biggie.

Speaking of cognitive dissonance...

Given her previous assertions that the Constitution is "not for black people," I suppose it's progress that she's coming around on the values instilled therein, eh there sport?

Seeing as how for about 180 years or so the Constitution provided either “no” or “basically no” protections or rights to certain segments of the population, it shouldn’t be surprising that some in this segment of the population aren’t as enamored with the document as other people might be.

It also shouldn’t be surprising that someone in that segment of the population might better recognize any civil rights, protections, or interpretations thereof that still are inadequate, or could be perceived as inadequate.

I mean by definition the Constitution wasn’t for black people for about its first 80 or so years of existence. The next 100 years aren’t much better.

It was great for all of the immigrants coming over to work in mines and factories though. The ideal utopia that gave perfect rights to black people can be the country she competes for.

"She hates what the country stands for."

"No she doesn't!"

"She said the nation's founding document isn't for black people."

"Well can you blame her?"

She was born in 1989. I’ll have to check what protections and rights weren’t provided to her in that Jim Crow era .

"Stop rioting! Find a non-violent way to get your message across! Stop destroying businesses and cities!"
"Well, don't look away from the flag when the national anthem is playing too!".

My opinion on the flag protests changed a good amount with the violent protests from last summer. If someone wants to find a non-violent way to protest like this then go ahead. Ideally, I wouldn't want them to do it but that's also kind of the point of a protest.

Rioting is an extension of the flag protest. When the protests become the system is racist and must be destroyed it's not really a protest anymore.

Oh, so 180 years of systematic government oppression was fixed in 17 or so years? Oh, ok, sounds completely realistic.

Uh, no, if the system is discriminatory against a populous based on things like race, origin, geographic measures, etc. then yeah, the system must be destroyed and rebuilt. And yes, that very much is a protest.

Like happened in 1776. And like happened in 1860. And like happened in 1968.

I think shes going to be ok despite such systemic government oppression.

Gwen Berry was born to Michael Berry and Laura Hayes, she grew up in Florissant, Missouri and attended McCluer High School. While there she was a basketball player but started taking part in track in the off-season and competed in the triple jump. She began studying for a degree in psychology and criminal justice at Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2007.

When you think about it, CHAZ was basically the same thing as Gettysburg or Yorktown.

That is about where she should have been. Top 12 out 30, not a medal candidate. The other Saluki was the one who had a chance of winning, but she took 8th.
