I googled Julie Dicaro and Maria Taylor and the first result was the Deadspin article from 9/15/2020 after Danny Mac was let go.

Besides the now-cringy title: "I Worked With the Guy Who Was Just Fired For Gross Maria Taylor Tweet"...The comment that kind of stuck out to me as I read it was:

I think that question is too simple, because Dan McNeil attempting to drag Maria Taylor (who is, if we’re being honest, undraggable) and falling on his face is just the runny nose that lets you know you have a cold.

Seems kind of funny (not sure if ironic) that she did this piece two months after unwittingly blowing off info about another woman who was "dragging" (I suppose) Maria Taylor.

Is this scenario what one calls dunking on oneself?

What if it was reversed. Maria Taylor was secretly recorded by a Rachel Nichols ally producer. Then the video leaked. Al Sharpton and the lunatic fringe would be trying to cash in on it.

I really don't know anything about Nichols or Taylor but I was surprised at how innocuous what Nichols said actually was. She got replaced by a co-worker and she said what she felt about that. And I didn't read it as having anything to do with Taylor or her qualifications specifically, but what Nichols said about ESPN's decisions likely being informed by its previously terrible record re: "diversity" is obviously true.

Shit happens. I guess Nichols should be better at her job.

Whatever. I don't care where Nichols works. I really barely know who she is. But with all the hubbub about this I assumed she had used a racial slur or said something derogatory about Taylor. When I read what she actually said, I was like, "Really? That's it?" An employee who is butthurt about losing a gig to a co-worker wondering if the vaunted D.E.I. may have played a part especially when she knows her company is extra sensitive due to heat they have taken in the past.

To me this is a Twitter story, a tempest in a teacup, really not much of a story at all. But hey, if you want to use it to dunk on Julie or further promote the victimization of poor Maria Taylor, knock yourself out.
