When u bring in different guys every year, nobody respects u. No consistency.

We had a good up and coming bullpen last year.

Why didnt we bring back the same guys?

It’s interesting how these guys age differently. Arrieta is only two years older than deGrom…he seems to keep himself in good shape, but Jake’s basically out of the league and deGrom is setting records.

If your starters are only going 5 innings, so probably 20-22 batters, so probably 90 pitches... then it is imperative that your set of first relievers has to be able to consistently go 2 innings inside 40 pitches every third day, so you need 3 of them. But I don't see clubs doing this.

That type of setup would put a staff at 8 pitchers to cover the first seven innings of most games. Throw in three short guys and two guys for blowouts and extra innings, and you are at a 13 man staff.
