There's a story like his almost every year, not necessarily at the start of the season.

Throw Yermin into a trade with Texas for Gallo. He can DH/PH for them for two years and nobody will care.

It's amazing that Burger made it after his injuries. He was destroying AAA pitching with the caveat that they have an odd unbalanced schedule this year.

Even if Abreu was to retire after this season, they have Eloy, Vaughn, Sheets, whoever isn't catching that day, and maybe eventually Burger to fill LF/1B/DH, with Sheets being the backup RF and Burger being the backup 3B/2B. It sure feels like someone needs to be moved in a trade at the end of the season.

Yermin has zero value in any trade for anybody, let alone a guy like Gallo.

I didn't mean straight up, I meant as "we have to clear a 40 man space for Gallo, you want Yermin for free?"

I know, I’m just saying anybody on the receiving end of Yermin is doing it as a favor. It’s adding to the Sox cost to dump a guy like that for a quality hitter.

Have you seen the Rangers? I mean the DBacks and Orioles and Pirates get all the headlines for being shit, but the Rangers aren't really that much better. They could send him to Round Rock for a while and see if the bat recovers, then use him as a 3rd catcher and part time DH and see if the bat recovers with less stress.

This is the same team that refused to trade Lynn last trade deadline.

One of these two outcomes is becoming nore of a possibility.

If Burger starts out like Sheets, I'd say let Yoan play 2nd the rest of the year. He has almost as many games there as 3rd since coming to the Sox.

If Burger is showing upside, I just couldn't flip him for a rental. Especially a .240 hitter that plays 2B.

Burger and Sheets are part of the long term picture IMO. Trading them for a rental shortens a wide open window

the market it going to start to flood with players now, available for a lottery ticket and salary relief

a frustrating thing about JR has been that he is more willing to give up a better prospect and no salary relief than to take on salary and give away a non prospect. That is the hidden truth behind the Tatis for Shields trade
