White Sox already have their closer for better or worse. Also, Kimbrel is exactly the type of player who will come to the Sox and start getting shelled. He won't be productive until the pressure is back off of him.

So no, even if it were possible to trade Colas for him I would not.

Call the Cardinals. Convince them they aren't catching Milwaukee and its looking really unlikely the NL West doesn't grab both wild cards.

How would that work? The Sox use Kimbrel as a set-up guy? Move Hendriks out of the closer role? I'm sure either scenario is not good. Plus, fuck trading with the Cubs. We're now in the position to be the ones who are taking the short end in two years as Crochet is 15-6 and Sheets has a .950 OPS for the 2023 Cubs as we fucked up our 2021 team by renting Kimbrel and Contreras.

I think the asking price will be sky high for Kimbrel. If you can get Frazier for a lottery ticket, that's the move I would make unless Moncada starts playing 2B again.

Yadi would be pretty cheap. Their number one consideration with him is upsetting the fanbase and doing wrong by Molina saddling him somewhere he doesn't want to be, but dealing him to a high tier World Series contender helmed by a guy who won two rings with the Cardinals is probably the easiest sell of any across the entire league.

Gallegos wouldn't be cheap. I'd tell them they can have any two farm arms the White Sox and slap their hand if they try and pull a cheeky one and grab Norge Vera. I'd also bet Blake Rutherford has sneaky good value, he's still under age twenty-five and seems to finally be putting it together. I don't think Gallegos cost rises quite to the level of Jake Burger or Gavin Sheets, even with Yadi.

The problem is all but the last place teams in the AL and NL East are in the hunt. There aren't many sellers this go around, which is great for baseball but bad for the White Sox.

I don't want Kimbrel. The minute that Flub piece of shit has to pitch in a meaningful game he will revert back to 2019 Kimbrel and meltdown. Guy is a head case and I don't fucking want him, not at the price the Flubs think he is worth.

We have a closer. We don't need to trade for one. Trade for someone who is setting up today for another team and that's the guy you want, he'll come at a cheaper price too.

Bummer's entire problem is being afraid to pitch inside. Fix that and he's fixed.

He was great in 19 and 20. If you get him right the bullpen is very good. Kopech, Crochet, Cease, Bummer and Hendricks is a bullpen you can win with in the playoffs.

The top three are all home grown prospects that have performed well at the MLB level for more than two minutes. The last two were traded for, but still developed by the Sox and also have performed well at the MLB level. And of course we have the aforementioned Eloy and Cease.


Edit- I forgot about Crochet, but he's at a lesser extent than the others I mentioned.

I was talking more to Ogie's point about Sox prospects coming up to the show and performing. Sheets may be a multiple time All Star, or be playing in an independent league in two years.

I wouldn't expect the Bucco's to do a straight up trade like that, but if Frazier is still there next Friday then anything can happen.
