So Japan spent a bunch of money building event venues for the Olympics and i assume more money upgrading local infrastructure.... and now there will be no spectators. You lose your ass hosting these games under normal conditions and the benefit of tourism dollars.

LA in 2028 might be the only one that will not lose money since they are mostly using existing venues.

I happened to be in Sweden for work during parts of both the 1996 and 2000 Summer Olympics. It was so nice to watch the English language Eurosport feed because they showed events from start to finish, and not the NBC bullshit of only showing the three favourites and the three Americans. It was 12 hours straight, then 12 hours of replay straight, no host.
