Bit of a shock.

Not really much of a shock. He's 28 years old. Been in the minors for 10 years. Got his cup of coffee this year. Had a great month. Then became the minor leaguer he's always been. After scouts/MLB pitchers figured him out. First month they just tossed it up to him thinking he couldn't hit and they didn't need strategy on him.

Absolutely no shock. The shock is it took him 10 years to quit. Most guys would have done it after 5 years of minor league ball.

But good for him. He had his moment in the show. His "Cup of coffee". 99% of minor leaguers don't get that.

I was a pretty decent in little league. Got to the final cuts of a traveling team when I was in 8th grade. Got cut. But I thought I should have made the team. At my high school we had an "only freshmen team". Holy shit did I see fucking curve balls that scared the shit out of me. I was bailing quick when it hooked down the middle of the plate. Some kids fastballs scared me too. I batted .125 in limited play because I sucked.

I quit after that year. I was 15. The dream was gone.

Moment of silence for the end of 15 year old Beardown's baseball career.

At least Yermin got to play until he was 28.

My story is more sad.

He had a moment. Many don’t even get that. Godspeed, Yermin

You're goddamn right. I had a girlfriend whose cousin had 77 big league at-bats. He was a .143 hitter. But he hit a homer in the majors. How many people can say that?

It's a crime that baseball doesn't get you laid in high school.

Everyone loves the football and basketball players. Most parents don't even go to high school baseball games. We had one groupie. She made brownies. I wouldn't have fucked her with your dick.

Agreed. He had a better five weeks than MANY careers. He'll get a ring should the Sox win it all this year, and deservedly so.

Thanks for April, and best of luck

Of course, considering he may not have been very good in the first place and the baseball annals are filled with guys who had a hot month in the majors and fizzled out cant be on the table .

White men have been stealing black and brown people's joy and baseball careers since the beginning of time. I mean Josh Gibson would have hit 10,000 home runs if not for Kennesaw Mountain Landis. And LaRussa has proven nothing has changed since then.

I do think it is pretty rare for someone to have THAT good of a first month and then have THAT much of a collapse. I don't think TLR had anything to do with it, but the book clearly came out on how to get him out.

He can't hit major league fastballs. Slider-speed-bat.

Sort of like Bob "Hurricane" Hazel, but he finished the season for a world champ, as opposed to starting one.

Kind of what I said last night.

Dude got mad and threw a tantrum on social media.

Hopefully he keeps working and is one of the September call ups.

I knew this guy wasn't retiring, he's on the 40 man roster so he's making 550k a year.
