Australia's Jamie Kermond was set to make his Olympic debut in Tokyo at the age of 36, but those dreams are now on ice thanks to a recent drug test.

The equestrian athlete was provisionally suspended on Wednesday after testing positive for a metabolite of cocaine, Equestrian Australia announced on Tuesday. Kermond will be barred from all competition while his second sample from a drug test administered in June is tested. If that also comes back positive, Kermond will be out of the Games.

Officials in Tokyo are nervously eyeing the waters at a major Olympic venue where an unwanted visitor has cost $1.28m (£930,000) in emergency repairs.

The Sea Forest Waterway in Tokyo Bay which will host the canoeing and rowing events was ready ahead of schedule.

But the one thing no-one counted on was oysters.

Massive numbers of them had attached themselves to floats intended to stop waves bouncing back across the water and on to the athletes.

The oysters were discovered when puzzled officials began investigating why the floats had started sinking.

I watched some skateboarding Olympics yesterday for a bit and it was easily the most boring thing I've ever seen on television. Hearing the announcer say shit like "oh wow that was a diesel move right there" made me want to punch a baby. Some goofy patriot skated up to what looked exacy like government railing on a library stairs and slid on the railing and that was her big trick. I see kids doing more interesting stuff at the skatepark in my shitty little town. It was fucming embarrassing.
