If expansion was about football Rutgers would have never been included. It is about getting into new markets and the money that comes from that.

That was the cable market model, and it's going to be outdated soon. It's already starting to fade away. It's about interest, big math-ups and getting teams into the playoffs. That's where future revenue will be. Not cable subscribers added.

Yeah that was exclusively for the New York market. Two or three illusory football seasons didn't hurt though.

Kansas has nothing to offer. What big conference went after UConn? Football drives this.

Is that true? From what I’ve seen TX football is the biggest money maker in the country and Oklahoma is something like 7 or 8 (ahead of Bama).

The only SEC team that seems to take in more cash than OU is Georgia.

So it is a done deal apparently that Texas and Oklahoma are going to the SEC, it will be interesting to see how it is divided up and how the schedule is done. I have to believe the Big 10 will be expanding now too.

Problem is that outside of Notre Dame and Syracuse , what schools are worth it?

This is all about football, in that case Iowa State is definitely a team to look at it.

Iowa State has no chance. It doesn't expand the conference. Kansas is clear #1. Then who knows. Not another good choice since ND won't accept being an equal member of the Big Ten.

I don't understand Kansas at all, this is all about football and they bring absolutely nothing.

Kansas is a big money generator for the Big 12. It's not Texas but it's in the top 3.

No other great options though.

Good luck with Sarkisian at the helm.

OU is lucky Lincoln Riley is only 37, because in the SEC they’re 2 bad hires away from becoming Nebraska in the B1G irrelevant. I’d say it’s a bargaining tool for Texas, but they already get whatever they want from the Big 12.

I feel like this is a step toward a non-NCAA driven championship. Only way I can make sense of it is to think this is the start of a mini-CFB league that’ll scoop up all the big names and tell all the mid majors to fuck off and do their own thing.

It's always felt like a march to 4 16 team mega-conferences and everybody else gets left behind.

Meh, the mid majors will still will be getting there seven figure sacrificial lamb checks. Bama fans love their beatings of Mercer and the Citadel.

I don't need another reason to despise Ohio State, but their jackass coach talking about spreading around the nil money of their quarterback back to the rest of the team is pathetic. Spread yours dickhead.

Was always a big 10 fan but there were a few that wouldn't get a high level of cheering from me back in the bowl years.. I'm sure that broke John Cooper's heart but man..

And I had the oft misfortune of growing up a Michigan football fan. But because I knew Quinn Buckner and loved Zeke, I was an Indiana basketball fan. Go figure.

I’m fine with that. It’s how it is already.

I just find this thing weird and I have no idea how to process it given the current dynamics.

I was reading some stuff tonight about the SEC wanting to form a 20 team mega conference with teams like Michigan, OSU, Clemson

I think it might be a little early in the year for the all day load watching football.

Further slippage from GD, definitely lost some steam off of his fastball.

I’m taking OSU by two TDs. Easy to forget that they’re the closest thing to a competitive team outside the SEC.

This should be a 30pt skull fucking by the time it’s said & done.

I thought 13.5 would be easy money. Still nice to see an early W on the ol’ gambling board, but not the way I was expecting it. Not sure if MN is better than I thought or OSU worse.
