If anyone walks away it’s a guy like Cutler, who did.

I said if anyone would walk away it would be him because I believe he is unafraid to tell Murphy to f **k off. I don't doubt how competitive he is but that also comes into play in his battle with Packer management. Skipping OTA's...turning down an extension...this seems personal. I think he plays this year but I wouldn't be surprised if he steps away either.

If you believe he is that competitive you cannot believe he will voluntarily retire. To make this more clear, if he retires, GB owns his contract until 2024. So he would just have to come back to the same situation without winning.

He’s not doing that.

Green Bay really fucked this up from the front office down, should have traded him to SF before the draft and you'd have Lance, 3 first round picks.

I think this is just the sports books proactively protecting themselves and not any sourced info. They only are waiting a few days to see if he shows up.

Or perhaps by referencing The Last Dance they were suggesting that they’ve already had their last dance together, and Rodgers is preparing to announce his retirement. That’s what some sports books are bracing for.

Or perhaps the identical Instagram posts were a message to Packers General Manager Brian Gutekinst. Rodgers reportedly refers to Gutekinst as Jerry Krause in text messages with teammates, as Krause, the general manager of those championship Bulls teams, was despised by Jordan and Pippen.

He’s not doing that.

If he retires it would be to force a trade. They would have to get him off their books next off-season. He could un-retire at any time and blow your cap sky high. That was why Gronk was able to go to Tampa. New England didn't have the space and it would of cost 10 million to keep him or 2 million in dead money to trade him. If he retires next week he doesn't pay any fines and gets to keep his signing bonus or at least a large portion of it. He loses the roster bonus though. Then he sits out the year and gets traded next off-season with a June 1 designation. That would be his nuclear option if he wants to use it.

The most important thing in this situation is he not end up in Denver so I'm hoping your guys don't screw this up.

If they had just chosen a WR instead of Love they would have a happy Rogers AND wouldn't be held hostage by Adams

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, quarterback Aaron Rodgers has “indicated to people close to him” that he’s planning on playing for the Packers during the 2021 season.

Sounds like the Packers are going to give him a good bye year.

Lame duck year like this seems a little unprecedented in the NFL at that position with the expectations Green Bay has.

Expect an anti-climatic ending where he breaks his collarbone week four and the Packers limp to 7-10.

That will be exciting to see them break down all the ways they underachieved during his career.

No. Anyone who thinks they know if Love is good or sucks right now is spouting nonsense.

If the Packers thought Love would be good they would have shown Rodgers the door.

If the Packers thought Love would be better than the reigning MVP than you are right. They probably don't think that though.

I think most everyone who follows the team thinks Love needs another year. This could work out perfectly or (obviously) could blow up in their face, but I feel much better with this scenario than a retirement/holdout. If Love doesn’t show improvement I think there’s a chance Rodgers finishes his career in GB.

The rumor has it tied in with the Texans acquiring Miller from the Bears. That said, Trading Cobb would be a pretty big hit on the Texans (dead) cap and he would also play the same position as Amari Rodgers. Doesn’t seem likely without a lot of concessions.

it does make sense rodgers would be demanding a certain receiver. his biological egg clock is about to crack, he needs players.

They'll end up trading Love and the drama queen will be Packing for another five years. The scent of Shaliene Woodley's urine based cologne will drive him back to BrokePack Mountain.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/31890729/green-bay-packers-craft-list-concessions-entice-aaron-rodgers-return-least-one-more-season-sources-say

Quote:
It is not done yet, but according to multiple reports, Rodgers has arrived in Green Bay. Both sides are hoping to finalize the agreement shortly, per sources.

The agreement in principle would include an approximation of the following conditions that the two sides now are finalizing to alleviate and address some of Rodgers' issues before the opening of Tuesday's training camp:

* The 2023 year in Rodgers' contract -- the last one in his current deal -- would be voided, with no tags allowed in the future.

* The Packers would agree to review Rodgers' situation at the end of this season.

* Rodgers' contract would be adjusted with no loss of income to give the Packers more cap room now.

* Mechanisms will be put in place to address Rodgers' issues with the team.

If Packers officials sign off on their willingness to trade Rodgers, and the agreement is finalized soon, here's the biggest concession the reigning MVP will receive: the freedom to decide where he wants to play in 2022.

he should have included the ability to decide if they go for it on 4th down

Comparing the competitiveness of the AFC v NFC this season, makes sense for Rodgers to stay in the NFC. Packers should waltz to losing the NFC championship game with Rodgers back in the fold
