That's a big damn gun. Especially for a carry.
Course... people say that shit about my .45.

I think I want a Glock. What guns do you have that I could shoot? I'll pay for the ammo if you take me to a range.

If you're a rookie with weapons I'd imagine you should have a weapon with a traditional lever safety. I'm not an instructor or anything but I think I'd recommend a single action for a newbie. Of course, I'm partial to single action guns myself so perhaps I'm biased but that's my experience.

Well, for handguns I have just 1911s now. .45s. I sold off all my 9mm shit. I'm was tired of having multiple cartridges.
You can go if you want. Ammo is pricy now. You need a FOID.

None with any luck. But I'd rather not get killed for lack of shooting back.

Shoot better with the first one.

That's cute.
A 1911 has 8 rounds in the mag 1 in the chamber. Well, a traditional has 7+1. Anyhoodles, most 9mm are 15 or 17 nowadays. So I've got 17 too with the extra mag if someone just has a 9mm double stack.

Well its due to grizzly bear issue. Otherwise I would carry a P365, which I own and don't really even have a use for since its too undergunned for wildlife. Spaulding, that would be my choice for a prospective 9mm owner. The Glock 48 is nice and all, but the Sig is going to offer more capacity and probably better ergos (especially for a female shooter).

I am of the mind that a manual safety on a striker fired pistol is like driving with two brake pedals. Of course I'd want one on a SA or DA/SA autoloader, but striker? Nah, not necessary. Even for a novice.

I get what you're saying but I'd respectfully disagree. Again I despise strikers too  so there's that. Sorry.
Depends on how you carry and what you intend to do with it I guess. For example, my wife carries in condition 3 so for her I'd say a lever safety isn't necessary or really even in any way advantageous. I carry in condition 1 so a safety is paramount for me.

Ok. Well... when things slow down for me with work in a month or so we can go. I'm due for a tune up anyhow. Bring your man we'll all 4 of us make a day of it. Get some beer and chicken after.

Well for me its a chest holster in the woods and OWB hip around town. I know you probably adore your 1911's so I won't get bogged down in the many debates regarding those things. Recently somebody returned (well, they put it on consignment) their Glock 40 here because "it wasn't a 1911"...like hey buddy I could've told you that.

I thought about the USP in .45 since it can handle .45 Super but eh, the 10mm was just cheaper and more plentiful.

Yaint gonna hurt me feelers. What do you dislike about 1911s?
Most people's issues with them as far as I know is mainly capacity.

Capacity, weight, size and SA means you have to walk around with the hammer cocked. Which just gives me the creeps.

They look great though, and .45ACP is unequivocally better than 9mm if you're dealing with car windows.

Yeah I agree capacity is an issue. I love the weight, and the distribution of the weight specifically. It doesn't recoil hardly at all and the weight distribution just lands the sights right back on target when fired. Yeah i walk around with the hammer cooked but the safety is on and the grip safety makes AD nearly impossible. But I get why you feel like that. It took me a while to get comfortable with the feel of a cooked hammer. I have the 4.25 inch as my carry as well. The wife packs the 5 inch model! She's crazy.

I like my USP, have had it for 20+ years from when I was in Montana. Little clunky for small hands but feels right to me. Bought my wife a Springfield 1911 in 9mm. I think they used to call it the commander something. Single stack so it’s better for a smaller hand. Also have a 9mm that is a beretta 9-2 but I can’t shoot that gun for shit so I either need to practice more with it or trade it off. Practice is expensive right now but 9mm is one I actually have a decent supply of.
