Despite all of that I'd rather have Glasnow than Madrigal.

It's a fucking no brainer. TJ is up to a 80-90% success rate.

If the Glasnow thing is true, that's a major fuckup.

Both him and Madrigal are missing the rest of this year, so its only one season of difference (a season the Cubs won't be competitive for anyways). I bet Glasnow would take a team friendly deal to buy out his arb years and give a little more control to cover the uncertainty of his surgery. The Cubs should be flush with cash for exactly that type of gamble.

He's a Cy Young caliber pitcher. He'll be under thirty when he comes back from surgery, presuming its a full recovery he should be an ace for a few years. I'd much rather roll that set of dice than bet on Nick Madrigal to suddenly become something he's not.

C'mon man, take it easy.

You think frank?

Kimbrel can still bring quite a return during the Hot Stove League.

If they win the pennant it's still a great trade.

If Kimbrel performs well ( historically awful in october) the Sox will pick up his option.

As a closer, which I have already pointed out. It may be a very different October for him pitching mostly in the 8th inning.

They may. But the success of the trade depends on winning it all with Kimbrel. If they were willing to deal Madrigal, I would have put a big package together to get Frazier and Rodriguez from the Pirates. I think the more people see Hernandez they'll realize he's a not a long term answer at 2nd.

We are not looking at him as a long term solution, just a 1yr and 2 months solution.

As for Madrigal long term, they guy was hurt in college and the MLB level. We also, do not know what he would fully develop into swinging at everything. We had no idea if he was a long term solution. This is like saying Kopech is an ACE pitcher. Well, all we really have seen him as, is dominant in short spurts. He is also an unknow.

Yoan Moncada needs to start having some positional versatility if he's going to continue being this player who never seems to come through when they need him to. He doesn't cost them much to keep around, he's well worth that coin just as an OBP guy, but there are so many teams that probably think he's more than that and if you can deal him I would. That or he starts having more tangible value by playing more infield positions.

Cesar Hernandez probably lives on as a sub, but I doubt he's an everyday type guy next year.

Yoan is really good when he feels right. He's a little soft. Both physically and mentally.

He Yoan was an everyday 2B, would we be worrying about his production? For me, the answer is no.
