Mandela effect. He did die of a stroke in the alternate universe that was our reality at the time. It was wiped away and replaced when the hadron collider made a black hole in 2008.

One of the few players I wanted to be as a kid. Fucking Houston didn't believe him when he was saying that he wasn't feeling right for almost a week. And for a minute homeless until the Astros embarrassment was too great iirc.
