Yeah, to say it's soupy out today was an understatement. Algonquin got hit pretty good, wires down everywhere and now the main storm itself is passing through here.

We've either had drought or flooding this year...no in-between.

I wish we got some of that rain. It's been missing 95th and Western.

Was putting on the fourth green today and the sun peeked out. Disgustingly hot and humid. Tried to chip on the next hole and was sweating through my glove.

Hellacious storms up here last night, knocked out my power around 7 last night and didn't come back on until almost 5 this morning.

Yeah they are talking more severe storms later this afternoon/early evening. Thankfully after today, we are done with this trend. We go from complete dryness to a never ending supply of rain and storms.

Got woken up by a storm passing through about 5am. Now I'm sitting at Resurrection on the north side for an Eye Dr. Appointment with my 82 year-old Dad. I don't know like what is headed our way.

Some have been jumpy on the city tornado sirens of late.

I’ve probably heard more in the last 3 years than all the previous years of my life combined.

Although, I did appreciate the one recently that touched down about 2 miles from my house.

Lot of wind this morning. Neighbor has a flat field of popcorn. The summer forages we put in look rough but should bounce back. Still really windy out here, driving to Davenport was a joy (well.. more of a “joy” than usual.”

Round 3 later tonight. There was already a big twister that did damage near Tomah. Storms are supposed to weaken as it gets dark and they move S-SE, but still could be powerful in the N-NW burbs.

The weekend looks glorious. Temps near 80, lake breeze, and the humidity bottoms out.

I drove down to Sandwich today. I saw a few fields with flat corn. I'm sure they have insurance though.

Neighbor's house on the corner of our farm lost a large limb that removed the power line from his meter. He's in a nursing home, so no big rush to get it fixed, his relatives already tossed all the food from his fridge/freezer.

I had a bunch of small limbs from the neighbor's cottonwood trees wrapped up in the perimeter fence, but not enough to short it out, so cows were still inside, always a bonus.

Buddy came over who is a big time farmer, said his broker is bearish on grains for tomorrow's crop report. I had Mortimer short all the OJ we could afford.

We had limbs across a road from a tree. Old road commissioners told us that stuff like that was their responsibility but would give a call if they needed help. First time I did it without them asking me too I got a talking too. Guess I was stepping on government business to cut a limb and get it off the rows. Have a new commissioner this year (the old ones did it for 35 years between the two of them) so decided I’d wait till I heard one of at or the other. It’s a side road that no one uses except the people who live in the house right there and some farmers during harvest. Nothing yet so I haven’t been yelled at or had help requested.

By you. 50-60mph gusts and it was like somebody dumped a giant bucket of water over my house for about 20 min straight about 3am last night. Slight chance of more severe storms this afternoon/evening. A bit warm tomorrow, then the humidity all but completely disappears and we get a great stretch of temps around 80 with lake breezes. Saturday through Tuesday is going to be just perfect weather.

Hurricane Ida looks pretty concerning. In just 36 hours models moved from Cat 2 to Cat 4 being forecast

good chance it could. has the potential to be a slow mover on landfall that can drop a ton of rain to go with the storm surge with NOLA on the east side of the eye.

obviously Bob didn't think this one through. Kind of like his thoughts on the Cub rotation.

NHC just updated their forecast to match the models. Cat 5 wouldn't be too shocking either with the trends out there
