Still a rain delay after an hour.

Glad theyre tryin' to get this one in.

Instead of pussing out into a 14 inning doubleheader.

At the beginning of the rain delay Levine played an interview he did with Heyward. JHK did his aimless double talk thing. Levine & ZZ praised him for a good few minutes on his "leadership", and greeting new guys. Revealed JHK got "choked up" on how its important to give back. Then the 2 stooges heaped praise on Heyward on how he's handled his offensive struggles in a admirable way. Again Heyward is praised for stealing, and being bad money thats crippled the franchise. Never happened before in Chicago sports history. It's like they're afaid of him to speak honestly.

As opposed to a veteran making his debut today.

He's pitched 13 innings this year...I assume you mean first start.

Time will tell if Steele is a quality MLB pitcher over an extended period of time. But doesn't it seem like the Score and Marquee have annointed this latest batch of home grown young pitchers as having Tom Seaver like upside?

2nd game in a delay in the 2nd inning.

Surprised theyre holding out this long.

Meantime, the programming on marquis is hysterical with all the historic homeruns and homerun calls

game just ended

I would say they toughed it out and got the game in, but it was only a 7 inning game.

Probly woulda pussed it out to a DH tomorrow had it been a 9 inning game.

watching replay of Game 1.

Since 2015, Cubs have only had 8 starts by a pitcher drafted by them.

Next lowest such starts is Boston with 108 such starts.

JD was making silly excuses for this.

Although the Cubs have somewhat done a decent job of developing a few minor league pitchers they acquired in trades (which JD for some reason didnt mention).

The Professor
Arrietta
Alec Mills
and I guess Azolay also must be originally an outsider.

Either way, need to develop startin' pitchin'!!!

Hopefully this is Arrieta's last start ever. Thanks for 2015/2016, but enough is enough.

Great 1st quarter by Rodgers, solid completion percentage and Crosby made the extra point.

Stop it. I believe in him.

He's settled down and made it thru 4 now.

That's good they let him work thru it instead of yankin' him right away.

9 straight Ks, one shy of MLB record.

Arrieta was also not a minor league pitcher as he was part of Baltimore's starting rotation for almost 3 seasons before the Cubs traded for him and he discovered vitamins.

Looks like whistler is the worst analyst here.

Cubs have the 10th least wins overall. 11th has 3 more wins. 5th only has 4 less. Hoyer will need gimme- slam dunk easy picks for the rebuid to work, with the Cubs talent evaluation history. Hopefully "23 & "24 will be top 3. They'd be foolish to spend too early.
