All facts

Also, Charlie Sheen at least looked like a legit pitcher in Major League. Wesley Snipes looked like a legit centerfielder. Tom Berenger looked like a theater kid trying to play catcher (not that kind of catcher)

Oh, Cmon. What's not to like about Taggart as pitching coach, and Griffey Jr robbing the beloved Twins slugger (and future step father of the manager  ) of a division winning home run?!

That one gets looped in with the stupid Cubs kid pitcher movie as just absolute garbage.

I also hate The Sandlot.

Field Of Dreams would have been much better if a tornado had came through and killed everyone.

They had to shorten the distance between the mound and the plate to 40 feet to make Sheen look like that.

Well it's also because he's Henry Hill, and that role overshadows everything else he does.

He still threw 80mph. I'm guessing thats about 50mph faster than Gary Busey and Tony Danza threw.

Charlie Sheen was a college pitcher

Did they let him pitch from 40 feet away in college?

He had aides to help him throw harder in college.

baseball movies of the 80s podcast -

https://baseballbythebook.libsyn.com/fr ... all-movies

Aug 10, 2021

In honor of the upcoming "Field of Dreams" game, we are making this patron-only bonus episode available to everyone.

No decade had as many beloved baseball movies as the 1980s. From "The Natural" in 1984 to "Field of Dreams" in 1989, Hollywood loved the National Pastime.

So grab some popcorn and listen as our All-Star panel discusses the controversial ending to the "The Natural," the inaccuracies of "Eight Men Out" and whether Crash Davis could take Ricky “Wild Thing” Vaughn deep. Justin McGuire is joined by J Daniel, Jason Foster and Willie Steele.

Having Eloy and Robert back in there makes that lineup so much better. It also illustrates how poor some of the daygame lineups TLR has put out there are. That shit yesterday and in KC was a joke.

Andrew Heany qualifies as not very good, too...hopefully they can tee off on him.

I was just talking about Sox alumni since they don't get shit on by the owner after they leave (unlike another team)

The guy who played the original Isaac is from Blue Island. His stage name is John Franklin but his real name is Salapatek. His family had a stereo and sound equipment store in the south suburbs and one of my friends worked there. Some of the brothers had the condition that made this guy look like a kid and others were normal. The name of the store was NOT The Little Guys.

All of this is true. I don't care how many feet away Sheen was...he looked legit. Tom Berenger and Corbin Bernsen were horrendous...nothing remotely resembling baseball players.

Some good lines, though. "Say away from her". "Suck my Dick"

“Field of Dreams” predated “Goodfellas”.

“Bull Durham” is always my #1 baseball movie because it has the most realistic feel of what baseball is and what it stands for. And Susan Sarandon was smoking hot.

Shelton was a minor leaguer though, so it’s almost autobiographical.

Have Joe Jackson as a serial killer. That how you get Ray Liotta's laugh to work. Doc NEVER gets his big league AB. Bleeds out in the batters box

Come on, when Liotta says "No, Ray, it was you" at the end.

He nails that. Still gets me.
