Our future HoF quarterback plays his first game on Saturday and plays well. Nearly 48 hours has passed since Fields played, but we have ZERO thoughts from good dolphin on his performance. My meatball brother has disappointed me. He didn't even post about the [Redacted] Love suckage in Green Bay.

Speaking generally, I continue to be in awe of super optimistic, glass half full, the sun is always shining people. I don't know how you all press forward with that attitude even sometimes in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary. I guess it makes you good parents, teachers, motivators, etc., but as analysts you're probably off 90% of the time.

I'm massively jet lagged and under the weather. I barely woke up in time for the game.

I don't really need to analyze Fields in the pre season. I KNOW he will be great (not just good) in short order. I don't like how he winds up before throwing but there are a lot of ways to skin a cat.

As for Love, that guy hasn't been good in 3 years. Some people talk about Fields and his production against top competition, which is valid. Love was bad against the the kind of competition you watch late on saturday night after placing a desperate bet to get even after a bad day.

Regarding Fields, HOF is an incredibly high bar. Still, he has a ton of potential and seems to check all of the boxes. Bears Meatballism is a disease that MANY suffer from, but the high expectations of what Fields might bring to the QB position is absolutely warranted at this point.

I should have done a better job saying I'm not specifically talking about Fields, I'm speaking generally. This is why I mentioned "generally" in my post. I'm also high on Fields but, like Frank said, I'm weary of Bears meatballism.

Rick, wanting Eli Manning to replace (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is not "analysis," and I didn't claim anything about me being a superior analyst anyway. I am commenting generally on optimism vs realism/pessimism/skepticism whatever you want to call it.

It's actually becoming a personal issue for me as one of my bosses is - to me - an apologetic optimist whose optimism blinds him from reality. Whenever I counter that optimism with a small dose of reality - backed by hard numbers/evidence - I get pegged as a negative dude. It's really irritating me.

Again, if you want to read a lot into the 1st game feel free. My point isn't to disparage Fields. He could be great. I'm just pointing out that the "Love was awful" meme is a false narrative. I will also add that Rodgers was worse at this point in his career.
