Nobody is cheering losing, and again, your team hasn't won a playoff series since Cheney was making bad decisions in Afghanistan, so sit this one out you fucking twat. It was an innocuous statement about this upcoming draft and getting a chance at drafting a college bat to slide in @ 3B and 1B, my god kill yourself you stupid fuck.

I can honestly say I'd rather suffer the 3 years of consequences from tanking compared to White Sox "Mired in Mediocrity" model circa 2011-2019.

I am not sure what else you can do when guys who were MVP caliber players all turn mediocre and want big money deals….it’s not like the Cubs were going anywhere with that crew.

Remember when Cubs fans starting huffing their own farts after the 2015 NLCS? "We're gonna be a force to reckon with in the next dozen years. This isn't the old Cubs. We're the next Red Sox, winning World Series every three years!". lol just lol

It's beyond epic because like 6 years ago, Theo and Ricketts said that this sort of losing/tanking would never happen again. Now here we are in the midst of a 12 game losing streak, and Cubs fans are cheering it on again!

Have fun, Bob

It's half a season after they waved the white flag. What are they suppose to do to compete this year?

Go watch your bumslayer White Sox and let us Cub fans worry or not worry about our team.

2016!

I remember a 2016 World Series after the 2015 NLCS.

This is the first losing season they have had since 2015. :drunken:

yes...and the 2017 Cubs were still very good.
Theo royally fucked this up...but that's done and over.

Tanking does suck, but at least they didn't spend 7-10 years duct taping the roster and hovering around 78-84 wins a season and boasting how close they were to being playoff team.

The roster was utter shit. Farm depleted. It was time to blow it up. There were too many bad contracts to live with to do anything else than blow it up. That's Theo's legacy.

Yup. Waves of talent resulted in one lightning-in-a-bottle season where they lost six playoff games, then Theo skipped town just a couple of years later. Pretty sad.

They weren't lightning in a bottle. That 2016 team was good, as were the 2015 and 2017 teams. Don't forget...their manager tried his hardest to lose the World Series and they still won.

The Cubs own more real estate in Frank's head then in all of Wrigleyville.

Jesus Christ, the Cubs built some assets based on favorable positions to select talent from past losing and sold everything out to make a run to win a World Series and hoped that could sustain to win a couple more.

They were right and they were wrong.

Nobody is going to get a doctorate on the analysis of what they did.

They won one. That was fun.

Let's focus on the important things like the lack of clutch closers in the White Sox bullpen.

Yep, pretty simple to understand.

Franks insistence on it being a 1 year hit is always amusing.

Herman Franks?

I’d take him over Ross on how to make a bad roster competitive.

I'm in.

IIRC, Franks was quite the real estate mogul. Or maybe that was Durocher.

Yeah, I think he left the game for something and did make a bunch of money and then came back to manage the Cubs for some reason. But those were exciting times.

"When he was managing the team, Franks was already a very rich man, having reaped the benefits of many real estate deals in the San Francisco area. So he wasn't there for the money, but for the game. He managed with a sort of "who cares, lets take a risk, I don't care if you fire me" attitude. It often paid off for the Cubs. But eventually the players tired of his attitude and he lost the ballclub. He quit in 1979 with a week left in the season, basically saying "I don't need this anymore."
