the prep isn't that bad. a couple of stool softeners, a bottle of miralax, and 64oz of lemon gatorade.

Right. I had this method. Some others are still getting that stone age gallon of syrupy crap still it seems.

Yeah. It's like being forced to drink a gallon of snot in a couple hours.

I could do that, but I know I can't drink that syrup or whatever it is.

The stuff I had just tasted like gritty, bad lemonade.

Just buy a gallon or two of water and keep it cold so when you mix it, the stuff is really cold. It's not that bad.

The procedure is fine because they put you in lalaland. The prep isn't so bad either. It's the toilet time that sucks.

I think the key is to follow the diet in the week preceding.

I followed the directions so I didn't need to follow the horror stories I'd heard about bringing a book to the bathroom with you.

I would imagine if you don't follow those directions, it could be a nightmare after you drink that stuff.

The stuff I had was a tad slick in consistency and was also salty. As Doc said, it must be consumed cold. I made the mistake of letting the jug sit out on the counter for the 15 or 20 minutes between one of the servings and it was much worse. The nurse who called on Monday to follow up mentioned the stuff Doug had as an option for next time. I think I would have preferred that.

I followed the directions as well (no nuts, seeds, or raw vegetables the week before the procedure), and while I had to go to the bathroom numerous times the trips were usually short.

I don't recall a diet. But to be fair, if there was one, I'd ignore it. I didn't need a book. I just wore a path to bathroom.

All that being said, the whole experience isn't that bad. It's no worse than blocking out a day for the DMV or something similar.

you aren't updating your license while on the can. unless you're just shitting your pants while on line. which, i wouldn't put it past a lot of people at a DMV.

Thanks, I had the preop meeting yesterday. Sounds like more fun than someone should be allowed to have...

Sounds like a key thing that nobody is mentioning here, is making sure to have quality toilet paper.

They didn't say anything about diet the week before. Friday and Saturday, cut out red meat and fiber. Sunday, liquid diet only, clear liquids only. Bad thing is that I, in my infinite wisdom to get it over with as soon as possible (8 am appointment time), require a 3 am wake up to take the second bottle of prep. At least I don't have to drink half a gallon of water for that one.

No, that's a good call. You want to get it done early since you are fasting the day before. I had an 11am procedure that needed me to do the 2nd half of the prep between 3-5am I think.

You should look up the week prior diet. I surprised they didn't talk about it.

There are a number of things you shouldn't be eating for a week that will clear out the bad stuff.

It isn't like it hurts or you're sick. It's inconvenient to shit a dozen times, that's all.

File this one under "Conversations that could only occur in Evanston, Illinois."

So I'm riding my bike this morning and heading back south through downtown Evanston. I get to the corner of Sherman and Clark and they've got the street closed as they're setting up some kind of fair. All these hippies are out there setting up their tents and booths.

Because of the way the streets are one-way and the traffic patterns I decided my safest route was to just go around the barrier and ride through the fair set-up. So I'm riding really slowly through there avoiding guys carrying tables and stuff and a guy says to me, "You're really not supposed to be riding through here."

So I said, "You mean I'm supposed to forego my egalitarian mode of transportation so the bourgeoisie can set up tents to glom money from the proletariat? This isn't the Evanston I grew up in!"

I was wearing this:

Image

So the guy says, "You're a real commie in your Coca-Cola t-shirt."

I gave him my best annoyed look and said, "Dude, it's ironic."

Colonoscopy came back clean. I’m good for 10 years. Agree with you PM, the not eating is the worst. Otherwise, it wasn’t all that bad. Wouldn’t sign up for one earlier than normal, tho.

This weather is awesome. I can really go when it's this hot and humid. No aches and pains at all. I did 17.5 miles this morning at about a 15 mph clip. Let me tell you, that's quite a feat on my bike. I did the same route again just now and I had to show a guy what's what.

I was heading west on Hamilton and a really fit looking guy, late 30s/early 40s was absolutely flying south on Judson as we came to the four-way stop together. I actually got there first and it should have been my right-of-way but I could see he wasn't going to stop. He kind of gave me a haughty glance as he whipped by. He obviously thought he was the alpha in this encounter. Think again, pal. I turned left and got behind him. I had to chase him down from about fifty yards back but I did it in a hurry. I got behind him and he knew I was back there. He kept going faster and I kept turning up the heat. Finally, I came out and went right up next to him. He was working his balls off but I was feeling great. You like haughty glances? Here's one for you. I broke that bastard and he stopped pedaling. Now go home and tell your old lady how some fat old man made you a b!tch.
