Nice play.. but again, no separation. Have to rely on the defender not playing the ball and the WR making a tough catch.

I saw separation. Also saw an underthrown football.

The WR literally had to reach over and behind the defenders helmet to get the ball. Prior to that the DB and WR were in step with one another, so not sure what you consider separation but to me -that wasn’t it.

WR made a great play tho.

It looked to me like he had a couple steps on the DB initially. Not Mooney separation, but a couple steps. They were both in step with one another when #13 had to turn and track down the underthrown football.

Not how I saw it -but either way it was a great play by the wide out. One thing I’m looking for this year is Bears wr’s getting hit in space or after good seperation, something they’ve struggled with for a while now

Fields will be playing against scrubs again. We'll learn nothing until he faces a defense with their starters on the field.

were not going to learn anything in preseason either way. he needs to start game 1 so the first qtr of the season can be a warmup for him.

Yeah at this point it’s just getting used to NFL speed and mild scheming for him. Is what it is. If what we’re seeing from Dalton holds up Nagy won’t have much choice other than putting Fields in as the starter

I woulda pulled dalton after the well thrown/placed 60/40 ball that went for the 70yd TD. Instead you keep him.out there, get 4th and 8 around their 40-45, and what does he do?

Exactly what we used to give mitch shit for locking onto his first read/WR and seeing that hes supposed to.take a 90 dehree turn right into.the soft spot of a zone defense (sirrounded by 4 bills) but WR falls and one if the 3 nearby bills casually runs up and INTs it.. So even if WR didnt fall and got there he was going to be hit by 1-2 bills right as he caught it, and moreover in a 2min drill, even on 4th and 8! You ideally wanna do better than a surefire catch ad hit/down/TO. Or throw to a guy who's likely going to be hit ulon impact of the ball (likely) touching his hands.

SERIOUSLY rhis is what we got on.mitch for. And after a decent firat half where he didnt look terrible (unless the pocket collapsed and he was physically unable to execute the right decisions he was making) you see that this bears team.NEEDS fields to.be in there whether to instinctively move a few yards ro make a throw when the rush is collapsing the pocket around him.on 3rd snd 13 (instead dalton got rid of the ball just before an impromptu game of smear the queer and it got batted up.in the air) and not only will that escapability help.you maybe find someone on that same 3rd and 13 play, it could change the coverage/passrush as they have to account for fields possibly taking off for 15yds if part of the field gets cleared out.

On the other side of the ball the bills offensive playcalling is pantsing our defense again, and when you look.at what theyre asking mitch to do theyre giving him.easy throws to open guys with plenty.of time... and even tho.mitch nearly hit the WR in the face on his 1st TD and he did a rookie kyle orton high.pass to dude along the sideline on the bills 20sec drill, by and large he did what was asked of him and was largely a passenger on the bills express, ergo.he/they absolutely rolled us.

GO FIGURE the bears broadcast only talks about dalton as a rexord setting bengal.and not a failed dallas backup who couldnt take over a proper offense and steady the ship to where, IIRC, .500 would have won you the division. And on 4th and 8 dalton literally locked on to his first read / #1 Wr who was due to.cut inside to a soft spot between.4 defenders in the bills zone and forced a throw there for the eazieat INT ever... you know, the kind of decision making and execution that we ostensibly got rid of mitch for.

Watching tnis i think mitch did the right thing to GTFO of here and take a lowball deal with a real offense with real playcalling and see a real QB in action. Maybe he gets a chance and thrives like today for a game or 2 and pulls a matt flynn contract... but watching mitch be a perfectly serviceable QB who didnt lead the charge but simply "managed the game" to an eazy 34-6 halftime lead = why couldnt we have kept mitch here for 1yr/5mil and had him.in the dalton role?

Prolly cuz he wouldnt take that from.the bears (knowing they wanted to draft a new mitch type franchise QB) and at this point in his career he wanted ro be around an up and coming thriving offense to.learn the craft from superior coaches/coaching to what we have and then hope for a matt flynn contract after potentially showing off what he learned / developed.

That said mitch had plenty of crap.balls thrown to open WRs who had to jump.lunge or adjust to.get mitch's passes so thats our guy, but still put him in a professional .offemse that knows how to call plays and he can be a serviceable passenger on the offense express..... which is what we all hoped he could do with wunderkind nagy (after we realized making multiple reads + accurate throws weren't his forte) and look.at the results here. Look what mitch can do if he's not surrounded by stubborn "set in their ways" idiots (how many 1st down runs 2nd down.semi/bootleg/ish PAs have ae seen in thus firat half? Too many ro count.)

All in all we really need fields ASAP even if we risk.nagy stunting some development cuz my favorite part of last week was on the long wide open broken coverage pass whetre the receiver backing up.got it right in his hands. Perfect touch. And fields can throw on the run and improvise, which you need to do when nagy is locked into 2yd run / mid-range PA / pray on 3rd down offensive playcalling.

His receiver fell while making his cut; the ball was already out of Dalton's hand. Not his fault at all.

With time, Fields will learn to throw that ball a little bit more out of bounds

The part i question is where he 100% commited to one receiver who was due to go to one soft spot in the zone where the INT proved he woulda been hit right as he tried to catch the ball had he not fallen down. Ideally i wantba little better than that.

Fields was winded those last couple plays lol.. his mobility is awesome but this is where the drop off in everyone else (coaching, other players) is going to be noticeable.

lol nicw dichotomy. On 3rd and goal i liked the decision to try and place the ball in a spot where only his (well-covered) guy could get it but it was a touch high but the miss didnt kill the drive.

4th down sucked balls tho.

And there’s that dumb situational Nagy playcall we were talking about earlier. He’s the same guy, nothing different, hasnt learned or changed anything.
