Not sure if Mitch is better than him but he hasn't faced a starting defense yet and everyone here is ready to crown his ass. Aren't you guys tired of getting your hopes up? Fields is barely on training wheels LOL

I'm personally suspending judgment until November 2022. Seriously. Not that anyone cares.

Is Fields also running for a Senate seat?

How do we work this plan?

Please tell me how do WE work this plan?

Sorry. The Bears.

How do the Bears get a lot of better players without getting better players?

They haven't answered that question since '85

Can’t really argue with that. The influx of talent in the early ‘80s was incredible and spoiled old Bears fans.

But you have to start somewhere. They got Hampton in ‘79 I think.

It didn’t look like it changed the franchise that preseason.

He's also playing with a bunch of guys who won't be in the NFL or start. That evens things out. It's the arm talent, calmness in the pocket and 4.4 speed that excite me. His ability to recognize a blitz, his familiarity with the playbook, and Nagy's play calling concerns me.

Yeah, cannot get excited about this team as long as Nagy is calling plays. If your OC continually had you in the bottom quarter of the league you would fire him and move along.

What does this team do well offensively? If Nagy had any ability to process feedback he would come out in I formation and run the ball because that would go against all his tendencies and actually force the opposing D to adjust, but instead you get the same old tired shotgun run attempts. Pretty easy for opposing D line to tee off because there is no threat of the run.

Remember he did actually do this a couple of years ago. It was working for a half and then he stopped and started calling "his" plays again. When the media asked him about it, he said that he stopped because the opposing team was going to figure it out. He should have been fired that day.

Yes. You know what's interesting. The quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons is Bobby Hebert. No "r" which I find fascinating. You know it's Herbert h-e-r-b-e-r-t, Hebert h-e-b-e-r-t. "Hebert" it's a fun name to pronounce. Try and say it Hebert. Take a shot. All right.

He did. He made some rookie mistakes on ST but he was active and always around the ball.

The ongoing inability to draft at offensive skill positions is striking, especially at WR where Robinson, who was a FA that they did not draft, is the only guy that has been on the roster for more than a year. One would think that just by blind luck any GM would at least stumble across a few guys in the draft.

It seems that last years WR room was a disaster with only two guys that had the physical and mental ability to play WR at the NFL level. It will be interesting to see if Miller develops into a consistent player, if he does that will be yet another indictment of the organizations shortcomings.

Miller..? Or Mooney? In any event, the Bears are going to have to hope guys like Mooney and Kmet take that next step because the vets like Graham and Robinson are almost certainly gone after this season.

Fwiw I do think Montgomery and Cohen are solid guys, but they have been misused by bad play calling/coaching.. Cohen being undersized and overused leading to predictable injury and Monty being underused. Hopefully this changes, not that I’m holding my breath given who coaches the team.

Alabama has several guys that could start for the Bears now, but we will never get any of them because we keep trading away first round picks.

I always seem to feel the Bears could take Wis or Neb offensive line in total and be better off.

Caught a podcast of the Joe O show, which featured frequent mentions of our very own Peoria Matt, in which an expert made a very sobering statement. I think it was Tice's kid who simply asked, "who on the Bears offense has improved under Matt Nagy", when you think about it you may say Montgomery or maybe even Mooney, but if you can only come up with two that is pretty damning. He also pointed to the inability of the oline/QB to identify obvious protection adjustments, again getting back to Nagy and his hand picked staff failing to coach guys up.

Have heard several guys infer that the reason the last Oline coach was fired was because he repeatedly told Nagy that the team was not capable to run his play calls because the oline talent level was not good enough. Even the ultimate company yes man Hub indicated the current Oline was "not good enough to win" in his rose colored glasses evaluation of the final roster.

So we seem to have a combination of a GM that cannot find talent and a coaching staff that cannot develop talent, does not give you much confidence and makes you wonder just what exactly the Bears front office is seeing that everyone else is missing?

Is everyone pumped for opening night? Matt Stafford is going to light the Bears up. He has all that pent up frustration from losing every year with the Lions.

Just heard Bruce Levine (noted football expert) say he had great optimism for the Bears' offense this year because Nagy was no longer calling plays. :? I thought he had taken those duties back at the end of the year.
